I've also had Texas @ #3 until this week.

The Offense is finally showing up and Colt looks like Colt.

Im still scared of the matchup of a Florida or a Alabama vs Texas if the game is a defensive struggle.

My reasoning is Texas is a small speedy defense that is built to stop big 12 passing attacks. The worst matchup for Texas would be a team that plays great defense and pounds the ball right at them.

That being said if Texas gets any kind of lead than their defense is the last defense you want to have to consistently pass against.

I'd still like to see more runs up the middle from Texas. Especially early in games and maybe get more of Cody J when the ball crosses midfield.

That being said they are the #2 team in the Nation right now.

1 more thing.... Earl Thomas > Eric Berry

Thomas should be the lead canidate for the Thorpe Award imo.

I hear you, but I think Texas' defense was built in the same mold as the top SEC defenses and the coordinator came from Auburn.

Every time I think of that I recall that 13-0 Auburn team that was loaded with NFL players (the D was famous but what about the RBs...R Borwn, Cad Williams, B Jacobs...wow) that never even had a chance to play for national title. To run the table in the SEC and SEC title game and still be left out is really unimaginable. If there was ever an arguement for a playoff, that had to be it.

I don't see how how the Texas D is small.. DE's are about 260, pretty standard and many college DE's are smaller.. Top 3 DT's are 300, 300+, 290, LB's are all 6'2"-6'3" 235(and fast), 6'1" 210 SS, top 3 corners are 6'0"-6'1", the small guy is the FS, but might be the best defensive player in the country.

Offensively they've played extremely vanilla, not wanting to show anything to opponents if they need it. I don't like it, because I don't see how you can just "turn it on" and unveil your full O just like that..but that's what they're doing. Which is why they look to struggle at some points..they don't adjust to the D, if they are doing something to stop the run game, they just keep playing into the D's hands instead of adjusting..because they don't want to give anything away. OC asked Mack to open things up during the Okie St. game, and Mack said "no we don't need to." Coaching staff has admitted this stuff. The fact that they still score more points than anyone else shows just how good the O is, considering.

The computers are obviously impressed with Iowa's strength of schedule. When you consider that we have 7 undefeated teams, the computers will all use various SOS (and strength of victory) fomulas to choose amongst the 7, and they have Iowa at a solid #2 behind Florida.

However, the computers are not allowed to use margin of victory in their calculations. So a 1 point win over Northern Iowa and a 3 point win over Arkansas State is just as good as a 40 point win. The human beings aren't quite as impressed with Iowa as the computers are, putting them at 6th, 7th and 8th in the 3 major "people polls."

So it's clear that a lot of people would want Iowa to just go away and those people will be rooting for the Buckeyes in 2 weeks.

You think Texas is a fraud and Iowa is not? That's one week of probation for you due to lack of football IQ. :D

Iowa has 2-3 losses already with Texas' schedule and UT is still undeafeted with Iowa's. And I actually like Iowa.

Iowa's schedule has be more difficult than Texas'. I'm not sure that Texas wins at Penn State given the awful weather. The chuck and duck doesn't work as well playing in nastiness.

Who is Texas' signature win? A mediocre Oklahoma team? A crappy Oklahoma State squad that lost against every decent team they've played?

Oklahoma is good, as good as Penn St. Oklahoma State is pretty good as well. And you disagree...that's why we need playoffs, nobody REALLY knows, it's not possible.. which is why it should to be settled on the field.

In the past i'd definetely say the SEC was the best conference. Heck it probably still is the best conference this year.

But it is nothing like it has been. Its an ok conference this year.

The computers are useless if you take out MOV.

I can live with the top 10, just not the order

1. ** - should remain #1 until someone beats them
2. UT - I dont care if they are 2 or 3, just run the table and they are playing for a Championship
3. Bama - same as UT
4. Cincinnati - playing very well, and with their backup QB
5. TCU - excellent running game, excellent defense
6. Boise St. - great win over Oregon, but rest of schedule sucks
7. Iowa - schedule is weaker Ryan Leaf's psyche
8. Oregon - if not for the hiccup against BSU, they are a top 5 team, NO DOUBT
9. LSU - quietly having a very good year
10. Georgia Tech - IMO, the cream of the crop in the ACC

No... it has not.
Iowa loses to Oklahoma by a ton,and maybe Ok St and maybe even Texas Tech...imo. Texas shells PSU...but it was a nice win by Iowa to win in Happy valley. again...jmo.
A Big Ten team played one very opponent outside of conference and a 2 loss USC beat Ohio State.

What has OU done to make you think they would beat any top team by a ton?
