No. Not with what the injury situation has done to our defense.

It's really quite incredible isn't it? Especially seeing as how our defense was ravaged with injuries last year as well.

When you look at our projected starters prior to week 1 vs who we have out there right now it's ridiculous. Not a down from Ratliff. Not a down from Crawford. Basically not a down from Spencer. Ware has been injured and clearly can't carry the D line by himself at this point. I have to admit I thought Carter would be playing better than he has been. And I certainly didnt expect Jeff Heath to be a staple in our secondary. I truly believe we do have good defensive players on our roster, but no team has the depth to withstand this many injuries. Especially during a transition year. The lack of a pass rush is absolutely killing us right now. Hopefully they can do something, anything, to play better ball these last 3 weeks.

Injuries or not this Defense is horrendous because of coaching and coaching alone. Our linebacker play this year has been pathetic other than Lee in the run game, no one man should asked to be the sole supporter in the run game. I don't know what this coaching staff has done with Carr but his play this season is pathetic too. So no this team is not a playoff team but they might walk backwards into the playoffs, but will get destroyed if they have to go back to New Orleans or up to Seattle.

It still amuses me when people lament Crawford's injury still.

What has he proven in the NFL to merit the idea he was some major loss? Serious question.

I could say the dumping of Sean Lissemore for a throw away draft pick was a major subtraction and have more to support my faith.

The answer is that we are about to find out.. They have had a few injuries and had some ups and downs and if they make the playoffs through all that then yes they are a playoff team.. and if they can't pull it together and get it done they were never a playoff team.. IDK how that could be determined now with as inconsistent this team has been..

Some how some way. This team could make some noise. More than ever the playoffs (if we sneak thru) look tough. Saying that if we get in our 1st game is a Homer. Go Cowboys!!!

I have wondered when Crawford became such a great player myself. I have seen nothing more from him than being a rotational depth player. Did I miss something?

Injuries happen. If we were a middle of the road defense letting up like 21 points per game and 345 yards a game I could see your points because if they were just a little better it would make a big difference. But when you are talking about 436 yards per game and nearly 27 points per game the players we are missing would not matter. The D coordinator implemented a scheme that simply doesn't work in the modern NFL.

That and there was a general lack of talent at key positions to start the season.

Other than Stephen Jones describing his injury as "devastating", not really.

No starts, no sacks and 20 total tackles in a rookie season must mean a lot these days.

I watch the games with my young son. The last few weeks there have been several times when he asked "who is #...?" to which my reply was "Let me check."

Yeah. The star on the helmet.

Instant playmaker once you get that baby!

Ben Bass was tabbed to be a monster too!

I'm certainly not claiming Crawford alone as a major loss. The point is it's an illustration of how far down the depth chart we've had to go. Ben Bass is another example. I don't see anyone here claiming either of those guys are superstars. It's the cumulative affect it has on a team when you lose a starter, then the backup, and even the backup to the backup in some cases. You end up having guys that would've been backups playing as starters, guys that would've been 3rd string getting significant playing time, and guys that wouldn't have even made the team seeing the field on at least a semi regular basis. The overall quality of the product on the field is diminished.
