They cut Jay? Or did they cut Jeremiah? At the end of the day, the name change didn't really bring about that fresh start. He did make it 2 1/3 seasons in CHI, though. That's not too bad, overall.

The Rat definitely appears to have his issues with authority figures. First a big blowout with an owner and now a GM. Seems like he looks for the big boys to fuss with first and foremost. Then again, he was never known to have a real pleasant demeanor in general, come to think of it. He's more than likely at a point in his career where his abilities don't leave him worth all the disruptions he causes. I think Jerry might very possibly agree with that.

Anyone heard of this before?

I would really like to know what this was about. As a side note, I love Columbo. Wish he could still play. Would be beautiful having his attitude at the RT spot.

After playing in 17 games across three seasons in Chicago, veteran defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff's Bears career is over.

The team announced Thursday that Ratliff has been released, replaced on the roster by formerSteelers first-round pick Ziggy Hood.

Ratliff was escorted out of Halas Hall on Wednesday, per Adam Jahns of Chicago Sun-Times, after a heated exchange with general manager Ryan Pace. Lake Forest, Illinois, police were later kept outside Halas Hall after Ratliff was escorted off the premises.

When asked by NFL Media about the Sun-Times' report, a Bearsspokesman referred to their comment in their release on the Ratliff news.

"We felt moving forward without Jeremiah was in the best interest of our team," Pace said. "We appreciate his contributions and wish him well. We are also excited to be able to add Ziggy Hood to our roster."
