Bears cut Ratliff after reported altercation with GM

The sad part is, he didn't come out ahead. Jerry watches out for his players, but Ratliff permanently burned that bridge. What "little" money he got from Jerry will be long gone and he will be an ex-player forever without a home. I don't think it will end well for him unless he gets some help. I am serious when I say folks need to keep an eye out on him--in Dallas and Chicago.

"Little" money, you say? He cost the Cowboys almost 7 million in dead money after he left. I only wish I could make that kind of 'little' money just once in my life. He definitely did come out ahead as far as Jerry and the Cowboys are concerned. There's no question about that whatsoever. It's too bad for him that he revealed his character as blatently as he did, though. It was also shameful for the Bears to show their desperation by signing him after that kind of a betrayal. As it turmed out, they simply set themselves up for what eventually followed.

Where Jay really screwed the pooch was by continuing to be himself and pushing his luck once again with the Bears' GM. I surely don't doubt that other teams should be reluctant to sign him for anything worthwhile and that's assuming they might consider him at all. One would think he should very likely be finished as far as his football future is concerned but he only has himself to blame. In the final analysis, I'd call it poetic justice.

The money that he got from Jerry is nothing compared to what he lost to gain it. He is a sick man who gained dollars, but lost the respect of many. Jerry flew that man to his grandmothers funeral on his private jet when she died in that fire. He showed himself with his behavior after the contract and now in Chicago. It would not surprise money if he hurt himself or someone else. So yes, in the scheme of things, the money is "little".

I would certainly agree if anyone is inclined to look at it from a lifelong and moralistic perspective. My original thought was in reference to the immediate monetary result of his betrayal. I think we both had valid points that simply went in different directions. I believe his career was winding down in any event. though. I really do respect and value your outlook completely, nevertheless.

How about Jay-Jay the Cray-Cray?

Just posted on ESPN:

"On October 21, Bears DL Jeremiah Ratliff went to the team facility, said he was the devil and told staffers he wanted their kids to die, as first reported by TMZ. He was cut the next day. Ratliff has not been charged in the incident."

I rest my case, your honor.

It's give a new perspective to the split and why JJones didn't pursue a civil case.

Sometimes a clean break is just better. A little bit of money is not worth those types of headaches.
