Untrue.

This is about the head coach trying to save his job and the head coach having the leeway to do what he can to show he can still lead this team.

Keep playing the same broken player, what does that serve?

Actually it is pretty interesting that Trestman has the autonomy to do this.

He gets to show he is the QB whisperer. He gets Jimmy Clausen to beat the Lions, might mean he has something.

It is not like he has a lot to do with Cutler to begin with. He was someone he inherited.

Playing Cutler does little at this point. Give the coach to show he can make his system work.

If not, foist Cutler on the next head coach. He's going to have to deal with him and his coach killing attitude.

Contrary to what some believe, a contract should not drive personnel decisions. If the Bears management wanted to play hardball to cover up their own mistake, this never happens.

It is kind of refreshing to see the coach get a chance.
I understand what your saying, but i firmly believe the decision on tresman has already been made.. So i dont think he is coaching for his job nor think that Clausen is their future QB. Which really leads to no positive outcome from benching your starting QB.

I may very well have been. But part of a being attractive to prospective new employees is that you have a management structure in place that is not overbearing.

For all we know, Emery is out too.

This might be letting Trestman have a shot. I think it is a great move. It just shows that the Bear ownership is willing to be professional and egoless about it.

Prediction, if Jim Harbaugh does not go back to Michigan, the Bears will go after him.

Just read that Michigan offered Harbaugh 6 yrs, $48 million.....................................no way in hell he turns down that type of contract.

Jim miller on moving the chains said cutler had lost the locker room. Said Marty b. said in a post game interview that they needed better leadership from people in key positions on the team.

Whelp at least Marty is consistent in his message I guess. And frankly he is right in this case

When Martellus Bennett is the key spokesman on a lack of "heart" and "passion" in locker room, that is just insane to me.

No one thinks Clausen is their future QB. If they can show some improvement on offense with Clausen that will speak more about Cutler's inabilities rather than Clausen's abilities. Compound that with the success they had with McCown last season and it will further emphasize that Cutler is not the answer. That doesn't mean Clausen or McCown are, either, but it will point to them needing to make a more permanent change at QB.

Unless there is a risk if losing the rest of his players. This decision takes cojones and the Bears got them.

Cutler is a diva at QB. You cannot have that, no matter his arm talent.

up until this year, people said they'd take cutler over romo.

the numbers prove he's a top 5 NFL QB. but he was in cutlers range to most critics going into this year. i don't understand.

David Carr wasn't available?

I didn't even know Clausen was still in the league.
