Guys, I have watched the FG block about 20 times today, 3 times in frame by frame, and it was all Columbo.

For some unknown reason, Columbo stepped to the inside at the snap almost behind the interior guard while Witten blocked the wing man. WITTEN WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WING GAP, HE CORRECTLY BLOCKED OUT AS HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO.

With Witten blocking out and Columbo stepping inside to his right, that let Vincent come straight thru untouched. Columbo actually took himself out of the play and blocked nobody, the interior guard did not need double-down help. This is freaking amazing that you can have that big of a mental error on a game winning play, almost looked intentional guys, really did.

I would have given Columbo a bus ticket this morning if I was the coach, maybe that would wake the players up and get their attention that this crap aint gonna cut it.

Beast is going to go vomit now considering how Columbo just cost us the division.:puke:

Not the 1st time he has messed up a blocking assignment. Last one that sticks out in my mind was 1 of Strahans sacks on Bledsoe... when he went untouched. Was kinda like de ja vu

It really is bizarre to watch in slo-mo...Colombo looks like he is intentionally trying to throw the game by sliding so far to his right.

If he would have just stood there and not done anything, vandy would have made the kick. He just needed to be in the way of Vincent, blocking Vincent would have been a bonus.:bang2:

LOL. That is the first thing that I thought as well. He literally steps to his right and actually creates the hole for Vincent, and then just stands behind two guys that have got their man locked up and watches them.

Nice report......I cannot believe we done that!

I have been a supporter of Columbo all the way; but lately I am wavering. He makes mistakes that come at the WORST possible time. Maybe its pressure, maybe its just bad luck; but they have been CRITICAL. I really had hoped we had our RT for years; but if things do not change we be lookin for another one.

Not making excuses for the guy and I forget the number of games Colombo played for the Bears before his injury but is it fair to say he's basically a rookie?

Not making excuses for him, just trying to understand what would lead to such a mental collapse at the crucial point of the game... Could it be fatigue for having to run so far and get in position to set up for the FG and he just wasn't thinking?

Don't know why that would be when we actually had the time out called.

I can't say I'd release him because he's been a nice player for us at at spot that was a huge hole this past off-season, but it's sickening and makes you wonder what was going on.

I have only seen the play a few times and most of the time I hang my head and don't even watch the replay. At first glance it looks as if a couple of other Commanders were in position to block the kick even if Columbo takes out Vincent. It looked like a low kick by Vandy. Am I wrong?

No one else had a shot except vincent. The kick had such a short distance to travel before Vincent hit it its very hard to say if it was low or not.

Columbo and TO are on my **** list all week!!!!:bang2:

I watched it this morning frame by frame as well and to me the kick didn't look that low but if Vincent doesn't block it I'm not so sure the nose guard that blows up Guarde doesn't block it. Of course that would have probably been better because the ball might have gone in a different direction.
