Video feels staged and fake. I don't believe that's how the decision actually got processed.
I would assume they had already planned that the video would be released in draft specials.

Interesting, I do wonder if Mazi would have lasted until pick 31..Obviously we would have ended up with Matthew Bergeron if he wasn't.

Dropping 5 spots, from #26 to #31, in exchange for a 3rd round pick is actually a very good trade for Dallas based on the draft value charts.

Obviously not worth it if you lose a great player, but Dallas does not do this enough. A 3rd round pick is potentially a very good player, on the cheap too. Two high picks vs. one is often the better choice, especially if you trust your scouting department.

Sure hope he pans out. The collective GM group here seem to have all agreed on the choice.

I know the 3Tech DT evaluators from past drafts have not produced any real gems of late either.
So I hope the 1Tech scouts turn the tide with this pick.

Cuz Micah could sure use the help.
i hope so too. its never a guarantee, ala just see Isiah Simmons, the 7th pick of the draft, but you make grades, you do your assessment, you do your projection and you go with it.

facts are that there are only about 15-18 true first round talent players in each draft. after that, its about grades you given a player, need, etc.

IMHO, after the first 15 to 18 that may truly be a first roudnd talent, the rest is about grades, needs for each player and each team. if you are picking 25 and below, you had a good team, probably a good record last year, you are competing and need to round out what ever ails you to get past the hurdle. last year our issue was run defense, specially run up the middle. we were 22nd in run defense. so shoring up run defense would be critical. there wasn't another DT taken until middle of 2nd round, so given prior to the draft its all about grades and need, if Mazi was graded high and could help at DT, then you go with it. because you may end up with another player and you still have run defense issues. I don't mind the pick but will he work out? that's another question, however everyone gives the players a grade, has a draft chart and you just go with it.

In theory absolutely.

But when the two guys you want (Smith and Bergeron) are there, you don’t move down

Risen, would you happen to know how they went about making their 2nd pick? And does Jerry, himself make that pick. I've heard that he makes the 2nd pick.
With Schoonmaker and Richards on the team. I like that 2nd pick.

That's silly. Jerry has repeatedly said that he's the tiebreaker if there is a split room. If Jerry was dictating the 2nd round picks, do you really think he's demanding Schoonmaker over RB Kendre Miller & WRs Marvin Mims, Jalin Hyatt or Cedric Tillman?

I sure hope Richards has an upside because the depth is not very good if somebody gets hurt. We got Steele coming back after a knee injury and If Tyrone goes down, it could get bad. That's my opinion.

I've never heard one way or the other, that's why I asked.
