Guess we will continue to argue about what we need, what we don't have, what we should do, etc. Simple fact, not until training camp are we going to know what we have and what we need.

Appearance is that we are relying heavily on analytics in free agency as well as the draft when projected to what players are expected to do.

We got people that fit Zimmer's style of defense and even replaced offense players with new younger players that from 1st take are very dedicated to working to be starters right away. Can they be good? We will know by late August.

Will the Jones extend Dak and Lamb? Will we be a playoff team? Will Lance show to be a decent QB? Many questions, no answers for at least a couple of months.

Predictions are great but never ever spot on. Analysts all have varying answers, click bait, and Las Vegas odds makers have their own crystal balls and God knows ever fan has their own take but until the Cowboys take the field with real contact and real scrimmage will be start to see anything.

As a fan from their very first game, I will hope that it turns out great for them and hopefully go further than last year.
Great points all and don’t forget, the roster will be different than what it is today.

I doubt the Cowboys make a trade to acquire a RB or DT in the weeks ahead. They're awaiting the final cuts to get the leftovers. Whatever turns out to be the cheapest route to take will rule the day. That's how this FO rolls and they will likely continue to pursue that policy indefinitely. Awaiting Jerry's demise won't bring relief -- Stephen is surely as cheap, if not, worse.

As long as we're paying and overpaying our own, we are forced to be cheap otherwise.

I did not understand this decision.
Only thing I can figure is that it's just more horrific personnel decisions by this really bad FO. I mean, the difference even an ordinary NT like Hankins made was huge, but Jerry is obsessed w/ those slim pass rushers, and just can't comprehend how they leave the middle vulnerable. Just one of the worst understanding of NFL football that's ever been witnessed as a FO. I'll be surprised if we don't freak out during the season and give up another valuable 1st for a WR or CB or some other skill position. Maybe RB. Why? Because that's all Jerry knows how to do.

I don't see a Jerry making any cap space to add any significant pieces.

This team will fall flat on its face, right out of the gate, if they don't shore up the RB/DT positions before the season starts.
The opening game against Cleveland is a bad match up for both the offense and defense as far as the running game goes. Could easily be a blowout to start the season.

they know what they have.

if they were serious about winning they'd have addressed it. we will see after June 1 cuts.

this doesn't seem like a team that has a panic mode this year

This franchise isn't likely to trade for anyone -- they seem determined to get by as cheaply as possible.

Whether it includes Dak or not remains to be seen in the days ahead. Brace yourselves for the results!

Don't be overly surprised if they include a poor season ahead and a retooling season in the future also.

The running back by committee and not addressing the WR/DL depth could hurt us if we let this linger into the season. Could anyone see a situation where we get desperate and use draft picks to make a trade before the deadline as we did for Amari Cooper years ago??? Please give your thoughts
My thoughts are the plan is to play out this season with what we have and set ourselves up for 2025. If any trades are made it will be us trading away players when we know we’re not a playoff team. So for instance, barring some massive injuries to key players, if we started 2-5 or 2-6 I could see us trading away Wilson, Cooks and some other players, Ala what the Commanders did last year. Even we only get 6 or 7th rounders. I think our “GM” wants to accumulate picks and purge the salary cap in ‘24. So I’m not expecting us to acquire players if we struggle. That’s JMO and speculation.

I don't see it. If the O-line opens holes, the RB by committee thing will work out fine. I don't see a depth issue at WR. DL depth may or may not become a problem, it depends on who steps up. I predict a veteran addition there before our week 1 game.

My thoughts are does another trade like that put us over the top? I'd say definitely not. So now it's sink or swim with what you have. I don't think this team will completely sink but I'm almost certain they won't take a step up either.

Again this depends where we are. If you're prepared to make a trade at the deadline, then you're in contention. On the other hand you need to look at value.....for instance I was in favor of the potential for trading for Henry, however, glad we didnt as it would of probably taken our no.24 draft pick (and by association Beebe) and the running game wasnt the reason we lost to GB.

To be fair, the team is in cap trouble.

2025 has a ton of dead money too.
Yep, a soft reset. Can't see us using draft capital on a rental, unless we've in serious contention at the deadline.....and right (positional) player is available.
