Being more creative, we need a zone blitz...

I am a firm believer in that if "you live by the blitz you die by the blitz".

By the same token a team that is too vanilla will get burnt as well.

I was more than delited to see different packages being thrown at the Skins Sunday night. Moving Ware and Ellis around getting a RB responsible for them in protection. I'll take that matchup anyday of the week.

There will be a time in most ball games when you need a stop, you need a quick possesion, or you simply want to put a team away that's when you bring it.. The 3/4 gives you the opportunity to bring a blitz from almost anywhere, so do it. In time I can see us not having to show the same package twice.

LOL......whether it's a blitz, zone blitz, or an old fashion red dog to the QB....whatever you want to call it, let's do it.

Well said, and I agree totally. That is what I want, not having to show the same package twice. We need to take advantage of the great qualities of the 3-4.

Here is an entry from last week's TMQ on the blitz.

TMQ has long contended blitzing is prone to backfire. Each year, I chart every down for a playoff weekend, and annually my charts show that offenses gain more yards and score more touchdowns against the blitz than against regular defense -- and that this holds even if you adjust for down and distance. Here is last season's blitz analysis column. I found that offenses averaged 4.3 yards per play against conventional defense and 8.7 yards per play against the blitz and scored touchdowns on 2.6 percent of plays against conventional defense and on 6.7 percent of plays against the blitz; that conventional defense forced the offense to kick three times as often as blitzing forced a kick; and that there was no difference between blitzing and conventional defense in terms of forcing turnovers.

I actually think the Cowboys were much smarter this week varying their rush than last week. I think things will improve as we go but I'll bet Parcells and Zimmer agree with TMQ's analysis.

I believe the Jags did most of their damage only rushing four.

I would agree with that. It's not how often you bring it but it's more of a when and how you bring it.

Fans worry too much about being "creative". Good teams win because of execution, not trickery. I would rather have 7 plays with great execution than 500 plays of throwing stuff to the wall and just seeing if it sticks.
