Belichick fined $500K

Club fined $250K

Forfeit 2008 1st Round Pick if they make playoffs

Forfeit 2008 2nd and 3rd round if they don't

Obviously found guilty of cheating...yet noone was suspended.

This looks like a job for The Draconian Vigilante Squad.

We'd get it right.

No suspension?

Well I may have been able to live with that if Wilson didnt get hammered with 5 games.

Agreed. Really my only problem with this is the fact that Wilson got suspended. I would LOVE to see BB suspended 5 games but do you know what I'd like even more?

To see the Pats fall on their faces the rest of the season, lose some big games in the fourth quarter without their "edge" and "strategy".

I like the personal fine to Belichek. I would have liked a 1st and third fine. I think that the Pats as an organization should have been fined MUCH more than a league minimum player's contract.

And we are all in agreement that Belichek should have been suspended. I disagree with the likes of Zaxor and Superpunk on the length, but 3-5 games would have been just.

Also the Pats had 2 FIRST ROUND PICKS so it's really not as bad as it seems. They will probably be giving up the lower of the 2 first round picks they had!

This is a joke isn't it? Belicheck gets fined a measly $500,000. That's a drop in the pocket to a multi millionaire like Belicheck.

Per ESPN, gamebreak during Terps game.

Pathetic. Fire the commissioner now.
Just think what the auto racing McClerin team must feel like they were fined 100 million dollars today for cheating

That would be my guess.

I really don't understand why there wasn't a suspension along with the fine. I guess the logic is that Belichick didn't do it himself....and that seems like a pretty lame excuse given Belichick WAS the person responsible.

I would love to hear Goodells explanation as to why Wade got 5 games and Bill got nothing.

Bad, very bad judgement.

Of course they will give up the lower one. Unless they have the Colts or the Cowboys (wink wink) pick. They will give up THEIR pick, not the pick of the team they traded too.

How would that have been "just", considering the precedent set for suspending a coach - a coach who violated a rule, but wasn't gaining a competitive advantage, and did nothing to effect the league?

How in the world would it have been just for the two to get even the SAME punishment?

Bellichick's violation was far more egregious.

Someone needs to shoot the commish an e-mail demanding that he reinstate Wade Wilson because apparently coaches aren't held to a higher standard.

You know what he's gonna say. Wade broke the law, stealing signs isn't breaking the law. I don't really agree, but that's what he'll say.

Half a million??? That's pocketchange. Belicheat reportly spent more than that on the skank he was whoring around with's apartment.

NFL.com banner is reporting:
The NFL has fined Patriots coach Bill Belichick the maximum of $500,000 and stripped the team of its 2008 first-round draft pick for violating league policy on the use of video equipment on the sidelines.

Sure it will because they will be giving up their own pick and the pick they had from another team was from a team that as I recall probably won't have a great record this year. (I forget the team).

I think the Cowboys ought to approach the Commish on behalf of Wade Wilson and ask again if its right for him to get a 5 game suspension and Belicheck gets nothing. Also Wilson got a $100,000 fine which is probably close to half his salary while $500,000 probably isn't 1/4 of what he makes.

Never thought this Commish wouldn't at least suspend him for 1 game.

Well at least now we know who owns the NFL. Maybe we should start calling it as it really is - Kraft's Own.
