He assembled THREE COMPLETE TEAMS around Brady. What did Brady do his last year with the Bucs? NOTHING.
No matter who the QB is, he has to have a complete team around him and a high grade coach.

If the contract with NC is unsigned he will not have to pay UNC nothing

As an attorney for over 25yrs, I can tell you that the "gray area" they speak of means a judge and/or jury would have to determine if a contract exists and if Belichick would be in breach leaving for the NFL without the buyout.

Easiest way to avoid that is to negotiate a number less than $10M for a buyout and waiver of any further remedies under law.

I'm far from an attorney, but would have to believe that him accepting the title publically, talking with recruits, and interviewing for his staff implies that he agreed to the terms of the contract.
