They have 5 picks in the first three rounds next year I believe...

I'm predicting a suspension of Belicheat for 2-4 games and a loss of 1-2 day one draft picks next year and maybe a fine to the team...

Lucky for Belicheat he doesn't have diabetes and erectile dysfunction or he could be gone for the year...

This is how I see it, and I think it's fair. I think that there would be a message attached, that if anyone is caught cheating like this again then that team will suffer in a way that will make it look like SMU was slapped on the wrist.

Also - I presented this earlier in the thread. What happens if Kraft or Pioli had knowledge of this? Especially Kraft? A cheating coach is bad. A cheating owner is unforgivable.

Well the cowboys better take big procautions when they play the cheaters Oct 14th

Since Wade Wilson got a 5 game suspention for steriod use for a med condition, they have to come down hard on a coach knowingly going against NFL rules

And if they don't, they will rue the day! :D

OK - I'll rephrase it. It is very unlikely that it contributed with any significance to the thrashing of the Jets. The coordination of that cheating would take quite a bit to get any sizeable advantage after what they had. Certainly not enough to strip them of the game.

That being said, they are still under investigation, so I am sure that the League Office is better informed to decide what effect it had on the game than any of us.

Ok... so they were stealing signals sunday for the NEXT time they play the Jets. Gotcha!

That may never be determined. The hammer has to come down. Period.

Of course Kraft knew... this is the third time they have been accused of this...

Obviously Mangini knew too as he blew the whistle...

That alone should make the penalty worse.

I actually feel sorry for the players. I would think it unlikely that they would be aware - they are just taking the plays.

that would be W A Y too light and you are right...if it had been the Dallas Cowboys we may not have another draft pick for 20 years...

That's actually more likely than anything else. They would need to analyze the calls to determine what they mean, and then find a way to relay that to the coach. The only way it would have affected this game is if they ALREADY knew the calls. Even then, the cameraman would have to have a direct line to the OC or to Belicheck.

I predict that the Patriots organization will be fined and at worst have a second day pick stripped. I'm not saying this fair or unfair, I just don't think the punishment will be nearly as severe as most on this forum predicts it will be.

The players know... Zach Thomas alluded to that very thing last year...

Now I can't blame Mangini for not blowing the whistle when he was an assistant coach with the Pats. Belicheat could and would have ruined his career.

You and I dont know that. Mute point. Cheating should be punished.

You dont know that. The Pats could start the game by setting up to execute a certain offensive play... then setup for that play 3 more times in the first qtr. They now have info on the Jets on how they setup for said play.

Ok, ok... the Pats didnt want anything from the video... they thought the Jets players had nice butts and wanted it on video so they could sell it on ebay.

Chris Mortenson was on ESPN radio earlier with Colin Cowherd. He talked about some of the rumors and hear say associated with the Pats. One is that the Pats defensive linemen wear hidden microphones to pick up the calls of the opposing QB and offensive linemen. They can record this information and study it to figure out the calls for different pass protections and blocking schemes for the next time they play that opponent. That would be a huge advantage in a game.

Of course it was cheating and should be punished. It just shouldn't include forfeiture of a game that the cheating likely did not affect. No, we don't KNOW this, but logic dictates the likelihood.

As far as your second paragraph. Really? They ran the play 3-4 times in the first quarter? Are you really trying to ge me to believe this?

Your last paragraphs isn't worthy of a retort.

We'll see. Goodell isn't one to back down from anyone, so I think it might be a little more severe.

Whatever the punishment may be, the Reactionaries won't feel it is enough no matter what.

Of the Dolphins? Did he suspect them of it or did he accuse them of it?

From a spy novel angle, the camera is a distraction. The real crime is a guy from MIT has broken the entire NFL phone system, and the Pats are listening to everything.

Relegation to Arena Leaque 2.

Well you are giving me your "not likely" scenario and not backing it up. Your attempt at a backing it up doesnt hold water

I am giving a "possible scenario".... not saying it was exactly that way... but I DO BELIEVE they were using it to cheat in this game. You are naive to think its for the next game.
