The Cowboys don't have an impressive record reaching for TE's in the 2nd round. Drafting guys like Bennett, Fasano and Escobar has earned some skepticism.
Bennett was a great pick, they just didn't use him because they had Witten. Fasano was a good player just wasn't fast/athletic enough to be a top TE. Escobar was the only bust, he was too slow, couldn't block and just didn't ever look like a player.

And Schoonmaker is actually the guy that is fast and athletic to be a top TE. Which is basically the point Belt was trying to make.

I’d expect more something like and even this is generous

Ferguson - 500/600 yards
Schoonmaker - 200/300 yards
Hendershot - 100/200 yards

**not sure why my phone typed Hendersonshot lol**
This & like 200 pancakes!!!!!! lol

LOL.

When people wonder why Belt often doesn't get a ton of respect for his analysis, it's statements like this that explain why.
You can't set a standard on guys who do analysis on every part of the team. There are too many opinions and projections to come out ahead.

James Hanna testing results make Schoonmaker look like he has two left.

Belt was talking out his arse prematurely.

thats 80-90 receptions.

With a 70 percent catch rate, thats over 150+ attempts.

not likely.

I think 30-40 are more likely. thats 300-400 yds. maybe 3-5 TDs.

Yup. Fits in my 346 yds prediction.

Since they didn't use him, that means they didn't need him, that means it was a terrible pick. Just picking good players willynilly w/ no regards to team building is bad drafting.

Fasano was a 4th round pick, so that was fine.

It wasn't a prediction.

I don't understand why no one understands this.

Read what he said.

No, it's he didn't have a competent QB and had an offense geared to run. Michigan just wasn't an air it out team.

Yeah these numbers sound more realistic.

I've had it.
AND if you are a 6'-8", 290 pd athlete who's feet are expected to take a pounding practice after practice, game after game it's going to be insanely hard to stay on a field if your feet are barking so loud that a dog catcher who attends a game might cite him for excessive barking.

Anthony Fasano was pick 53 in the 2nd round

Who is 6-8 290?

Here I am thinking 500 yards would be solid for Schoon, but Bobby is smoking some Schoon bud so let him cook.

Seriously, I see more of a committee especially with no established veteran, so the TEs should spread out a bit.

Gotta love the very realistic expectation’s with some fans? On top of that I’m seeing 2000 for Malik Davis and somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 for Tolbert. Wow this offense is really gonna be amazing!

Yes he was, you are talking out of your behind.
Yeah, you’re completely making it up and taking what the TE coach said about a trait and running with it. Schoon was never a playmaker in Michigan and his only real year of “production” came in his last season.

This doesn't mean anything.

Any NFL TE COULD get 1000 yds.

Just a matter if ur offensive coaches want to feature you to a degree where you'd get 65 or 70 catches. Schoonmaker notoriously goes down at first contact so he won't be racking up YAC yds ...so just a matter if they want to give him that much work knowing it make take him 85 or 90 catches to reach 1000, vs a more dynamic TE might do it in 65 or 70.

I'd argue that if Dallas needed to feature Schoon to a degree where he would accumulate 1000 yds, that it would be a bad sign that too much drinking and dunking and Marty Ball was happening....8 yds per reception at a time.
That’s what a lot of these goofs don’t realize. If you watch Schoon’s film he is not a guy that is over physical trucking guys (ala Gronk) nor is he nimble or shifty, making guys miss in the open field and like you mentioned goes down on first contact. He does have some speed relative to his size so he can run open on timing routes like slants.
