According to Robert Belt, if the offense needed him to, Luke Schoonmaker could be a 1,000 yard receiver his rookie year.

Considering there's only been two 1,000 yard rookie TEs in league history that is quite a statement.

Not if Schoonmaker's plantar fasciitis keeps affecting him. Does Schoonmaker have the physical ability? Yes, but only if his ailing foot doesn't affect him.

...Parsons is capable of getting 26 sacks this year too. I call it Cherry Pickens.

I'd bet my life that he doesn't touch 1,000 yards, but I'm not the least bit worried about receiving production from our TEs.

Schultz wasn't a special talent and won't be difficult to replace.

I'm guess a lot of folks skipped right over that part of the OP.

Some of the responses in this thread are hilarious.

This would mean more if Bobby Belt wasn't the biggest cheerleader who ever covered a football team in NFL history.

Is Schoonmaker capable of walking right now?

Shouldn't we, at least, wait until he gets the boot off before anointing him All-World?
Granted, just like neither should he be prematurely judged to be a mere JAG. Personally if he stays healthy I think he's a lot better than a JAG, but time will tell.

I'd say the odds of Schoon getting 1k yards this year are about as good as me getting a tuggy from Shania Twain.

Every time someone uses a quote from Belt to prove whatever point they are trying to prove remember this completely over the top cheerleader comment

The Cowboys don't have an impressive record reaching for TE's in the 2nd round. Drafting guys like Bennett, Fasano and Escobar has earned some skepticism.

the concern with schoonmaker is not lack of ability, but if his foot sidelines him, he is 25 and next year he will be 26.....usually players are talking second contract by then. this is a concerning situation with his foot and if he is going to play this year. they drafted him, counting on him to be available and need his blocking.
