First, let’s be clear, even if this wretched team does somehow win this division, they’re getting bounced in the first round.

Dalton looked terrible tonight. He threw two picks but it easily should have been two more. With the offensive line in tatters, he doesn’t have the mobility to evade the rush. And his arm strength and accuracy are a shell of what they were earlier in his career.

Enter Ben DiNucci.

DiNucci is a rookie without the benefit of the preseason and he will make mistakes. But his raw talent trumps Dalton’s fading abilities as a quarterback. DiNucci can run to escape the rush and he has the arm strength to make all the throws.

And in a lost season, and make no mistake about it - this is a lost season, why not get a rookie some experience and evaluate him going into next year?

Of course, it’s not going to happen. It should but it won’t - not yet. But behind this offensive line, it’s only a matter of time before Dalton gets knocked out of a game. Then it’ll be DiNucci time. Should be now though.

I agree. Dalton is serviceable. A decent QB. Everyone knows what he is and what he can do

I'd like to see Ben learn and do his thing. I mean, I actually hate it, I want a run.

Dalton is wasted behind this OL and defense. He'll get a better job. He's got elite WR's but RB's that put the ball on the ground.

I hate it, but I'd like to give the new guy reps. Dalton's fine but he's going to have to fight from behind a lot. He's not Dak, not sure he can do it.

I would rather let Nooch sink or swim and see if he can be a viable back up for the future rather than letting Dalton stink up the joint and possibly win a few games that would only serve to screw up draft position. The team can’t win anything of importance with Dalton and he isn’t the future.

Another thing they need to make sure to do is dial down Zeke’s touches and snap counts. Don’t wear too much tread off his tires in a down year.

There is no reason to let the Nooch get his first NFL experience behind a college level offensive line. It could hamper his development if there is any to be had.

Let Dalton finish this thing out and a lot of questions will be answered going forward.

The team isn’t going to give up like that. This is what we paid Dalton to do and he’s being paid well. He’s here to salvage the season if Dak went down and the NFCE is putrid so this season is remarkably salvageable for a team with a 2-4 record. Dinucci isn’t seeing the field barring Dalton going down or the season becoming a dumpster fire. Granted, lol some of us may think we are there right now BUT not in this division

Maybe I should have worded my post like this one. When I suggested the season is over, I got reamed for being a realistic fan.

We're still number 1 in the East

It boils down to what you mean by “season over”.

they are in first place in the division. There isn’t a coaching staff in the league, nor has there ever been, that is going to to deem a season to be over while their team is in first place.

I'd leave it up to Mike McCarthy to decide when it's the right time to turn over the QB duties to Ben.

He's had experience at working with QBs to determine what they can do and need to do. We'll see.

I seriously doubt he'll be inclined to take such a step, without giving Andy the time to prove himself.

Divisional first place would matter if we weren't leading at 2-4, and barely beat the worst team in the NFL.

I was afraid that Dalton was going to be terrible tonight. He is going to get killed out there with our pathetic offensive line. Big Dinucci fan, but this is not the kind of situation to throw him into.

Why not? He has no offensive line, true, but he has three very good receivers and in theory a stud running back.

DiNucci can buy time with his feet. I think the situation is perfect for him.

Regardless, we all know that McCarthy won’t make the move just yet. But we travel to Washington next week and that defensive line is going to destroy this offensive line. Let’s see if Dalton makes it out of that game with his life.
