First, let’s be clear, even if this wretched team does somehow win this division, they’re getting bounced in the first round.

Dalton looked terrible tonight. He threw two picks but it easily should have been two more. With the offensive line in tatters, he doesn’t have the mobility to evade the rush. And his arm strength and accuracy are a shell of what they were earlier in his career.

Enter Ben DiNucci.

DiNucci is a rookie without the benefit of the preseason and he will make mistakes. But his raw talent trumps Dalton’s fading abilities as a quarterback. DiNucci can run to escape the rush and he has the arm strength to make all the throws.

And in a lost season, and make no mistake about it - this is a lost season, why not get a rookie some experience and evaluate him going into next year?

Of course, it’s not going to happen. It should but it won’t - not yet. But behind this offensive line, it’s only a matter of time before Dalton gets knocked out of a game. Then it’ll be DiNucci time. Should be now though.

He will only play if the season is out of hand.

The division is so bad.

Why on earth would we even toss the kid into this hot mess? Hell Tua has played 2 snaps on a descent Fish team! He will get totally killed behind the OL and useless running game. We now Dak is the future and this will do nothing for the kid.

I would not throw DiNucci to the wolves behind this beat up OL. All that can happen it developing of bad habits as he tries to survive and a loss of confidence. Romo sat for 4 years despite having poor play at QB in front of him but Parcells and Payton knew Romo was not ready. DiNucci is not ready to take the beating.

Mike McCarthy is no Jason Garrett. He may just play Dinucci because MM gets a free year because of the situation. I don't like throwing Dinooch to the lions, but we really need to see what he has in him. I'm totally shocked how bad Dalton was. And he was a starter last year??? OMG I feel sorry for the Bengal fans.

I'm not confident that DiNucci could take the awful pounding that goes with the present OL.

It would likely be a wise decision to wait until the OL gets settled with their pass protection.

Andy Dalton is the unfortunate victim of the musical chairs game that the OL is playing now.

He'll improve when the pass protections does likewise. It may take a while for that to occur.

I see your reasoning but think about it, if many players have already quit as some fan suggest ( not even halfway season) what you think is going to with their coach implying were are now playing for NEXT SEASON. lol

People DiNucci is NOT ready to play an NFL game. My goodness........no training camp, no preseason games, limited if any practice with starters, 7th round draft pick and you all want him to start the rest of the season? LOL......if you wanna tank the season then say it but there's no way this kid is better than Andy Dalton.

100%...……...he cant be any worse than Dalton and I actually think the kid might have a little Romo in him.

I'd leave it up to Mike McCarthy to decide when it's the right time to turn over the QB duties to Ben.

He's had experience at working with QBs to determine what they can do and need to do. We'll see.

I seriously doubt he'll be inclined to take such a step, without giving Andy the time to prove himself.
the same McCarthy that kept Kellen Moore?

the same McCarthy that kept Kellen Moore?

If you prefer to blame anyone for that, look to Jerry Jones.

McCarthy has always been inclined to do that himself.

Are you seeing the play calling that was foretold?

Might it improve with a better offensive line?

It was Parcells and Payton who when they had Romo as a young QB were not willing to throw him out to the lions. I think they knew it would do more harm than good.
