Passing on Moss was franchise changing. That doesn't happen often with a non QB too.

Mo was the inverse.

All situational production on a great team, but meh measurables.

They thought he was the Next Peterson Up but physically they were just entirely different animals. Mentally too. And both aspects had evidence predraft. Blowing off the Wonderlic should have been a major red flag, not just for IQ, but personality.

Don't forget, bergeron began his rookie year hurt. Hasn't he been injured for at least 2 seasons? Good player for sure but let's not pretend we missed out on an elite player. Mazi was trash and many other teams also passed on bergeron. Not just Dallas.

I don’t care that Mazi was a bust. Busts happen. Every draft especially in the first round.

The issue wasn’t him busting.

The issue was they year after year refuse to use free agency so they wanted to fill their biggest needs through the draft. If you didn’t do that maybe you pick someone else.

Bingo, they in the past waited till 2 weeks into FA, to get busy trying to be cheap.

There were 28 other fools, most of the league, besides the cowboys who passed on TJ. There were 19 other fools, about 2/3 of the league, that passed on Randy. Many fools out there.

No, the issue was a massive breakdown in talent evaluation. Which is what you get w/ a non-NFL GM.

How many first round picks have the rams had the last few years? No you don’t have to hit on every first round pick to win a SB. No one does. But I’m sure it helps.

Lots of teams are guilty of both.

How many teams passed on Tom Brady for five rounds? Nobody even drafted Tony Romo or Kurt Warner.

Nobody drafted John Randle, and he's one of the best defensive linemen of all time

Wasn’t Drew Pearson a UDFA when there were like 11 or 15 rounds?

I’ve been ardently following the draft for 35+ years now. Even so, Mazi was a lesson for me to trust your eyes and convictions.

I never saw the player Mazi was purported to be on tape at Michigan. Combine that with his absolutely abysmal production and it was clear to see he was purely hype—a myth based on supposed freaky athleticism.

Despite all that I allowed myself to be convinced there must be something I’m just missing. There wasn’t.

Always felt this way when evaluating picks. I questioned draft picks and ppl here attacked me.

People are always goofy about bets that pan out. Sometimes bad bets pan out. Didn't mean they were good bets.

Trading away 1st round picks is not the same as picking busts.
