Just who could we have gotten in the last 2 years that would have been good?

By all means let's not limit it to 2 years, Parcells has been here 3. Again, im just taking a swing at thing and naming guys who the jury is really out on. Below are guys who range from projects to legitamate franchise QBs, which of course everyone has their own defintion of what a franchise QB is.

2003 Draft
--Byron Leftwhich 1st Round
--Rex Grossman 1st Round
--Kyle Bohler 1st (yes, the jury is still out on him)
--Chris Simms (Yeah Yeah Yeah...would not have Witten but hey, just taking a swing, if you can spend a 3rd rounder on Henson...why not this guy...I remember Mel Kiper saying this was a steal in the 3rd round)

2004 Draft
--JP Losman (he was chosen 22nd in the 1st Round)
--Matt Shaub (graded pretty nicely by some experts and would look better wearing a star then Peterman imo, which both were available in the 3rd round..the rest is history)
--Luke McCown (If you can have Romo on your roster, why not pick this guy up in the 4th round)

Im not touching the 2005 Draft, that was just stellar of a draft....

Again, I dont think any of these guys are 20/20 guys and sure hits. All had some draft analyst talking about them and again, if you can use a 3rd Rounder on Henson and have Romeo the Clown on your squad, then all of these guys were viable in my opinion. Heck, I dont even know what round he was drafted, but I wouldnt have cared if they picked Adrian Mcpherson up and tried him out....

This is what the man is paid 4.5 million a year for...to make decisions...

I just don't get it.

Screw up on your job...have your boss come into you and demand "What the heck were you thinking" and respond "Hey boss, 20/20 hindsight vision is really something, isn't it?" and see how long you hold that job.

Someone goes to a doctor...pays a zillion $ for a diagnosis...the doc gives the wrong diagnosis..the patient becomes ill...and when questioned by the family he says "20/20 hindsight...."

I really don't understand why some people extend a benefit of the doubt to Parcells that none of us have extended to ourselves in our daily lives...
All I was trying to say is that Jake Delhomme was anything but a sure thing when he was a free agent.

This was also my question last year.

Are we going to "really" be better off when he leaves? We will be left without knowing who our QB will be when he leaves....I don't think there is any doubt about that.

We see the Giants go ahead and bite the bullet and start Manning, and they feel comfortable with him now.

Next year, I believe BP will be gone, DB will be even older and less mobile than he is right now, if that is possible, and as of yet, we STILL don't have our future QB even on this roster, IMO.

I don't care how good the players are around him, if you don't have a QB that can do his job, those good players around him will be muted.

Ok...so maybe I'm just touchy about the subject. :)

It's from having to sit between Winicki and trick in our first 2005 Moderator meeting...Every meeting Reality starts with his...."I just flew in from Dallas and boy are my arms tired" joke....and it goes downhill from there.

Delhomme...my point is, Parcells is paid an exorbitant amount of money to make decisions....and he missed on this...as well as a few other QB's.

It doesn't matter if any of us liked Delhomme....we aren't paid to evaluate talent.

That's really my only point...sorry for going slightly nutz. ;)

But signing Delhomme doesn not mean that Bill would eventually leave the team with a "young QB for the future".

Delhomme will be 31 next year. Assuming Bill leaves after the 2007 year then the next coach would be inheriting a 33 year old QB - the same age as Bledsoe is now that everyone keep complaining about.

The next coach would be drafting a new QB anyway.

I'm a Henson guy. I still believe the kid has all the ability that's needed to excel.

Honestly, without getting into the playoffs this year, I would rather have seen Romo/Henson...than Bledsoe...and I think that Bledsoe actually did a decent job....but toward what end?

:hammer:

I agree 100%. This was a wasted season as for as QB is concerned. 2006 and 2007 will probably be wasted seasons also. :bang2:

I don't know, Juke, its a tough call.

Its not like we were a 5-11 team again this year. We came within a 4 minute span of secondary breakdowns or some chip shot field goals of making the playoffs.

The way Henson looked in pre-season, I don't think that would have happened if we had turned the team over to him day 1.

If you could have told me with 100% certainty that we wouldn't make the playoffs this year, then I would be on board with throwing in Henson. BUt there is no way to say that. Jerry didn't spend $30M on FAs to chuck the season on Henson. Especially since if Hensons bombs, you are back to square one and have wasted a potential playoff season for nothing.

I'm not saying that one can't make an argument that playing Romo/Henson would have been a better idea this year, but taking hindsight out of the equation I find it a slim argument at best, and certainly not worthy of the criticism it has generated.

He must like Romo or he would have taken a third from the Jets for him.
Do you really believe anyone offered a third for an undrafted free agent that's never played?

Even if we had gotten any one of these guys, Parcells would still have brought in one of his cronies, and the youngsters would still be on the bench. That is just the way Parcells operates.

That is what is scary, after he leaves next year or the year after, we will still be looking for our franchise QB. He may fill alot of holes before he leaves, but we will still be looking for a QB.

Two guys I'd have gone and got.

But we have Romo - time will tell.....

Very Simple - Due to Parcells being 65 yrs old next season he has refused and continues to refuse to bite the bullet and either draft a young QB or go with a young QB we can acquire or already have. Dollar Bill continues to try and shortcut the NFL breeding cycle....he got lucky with Vinny in 98' and went to the AFC Title game and that has gone to his head...
So we didn't have a young QB in 2004,2005 or next season 2006. And if we don't win next season with Bledsoe we can be looking at a stretch of 4-5 more seasons of losing as we wait ot groom a young QB after finally admitting we have to.

Worried.
The real reason Bill signed an extension for another year is so he can get some decent assistant coaches to come here. If it looked like he was only going to be here for one he wouldn't get any thing but riff raff for assistants(which may happen again anyway).
Assistant coaches are usually given two year contracts, and are usually hesitant to sign a 1 year deal. Just something to think about.

Not in the slightest. Funny all the media people complain they have no access to the team, yet somehow they know what was being discussed tradewise with jerry and BP lol

Well, none of us have won 2 super bowls, and taken 18 different teams to the playoffs, so.....

Not sayin it's right, I'm just sayin.

many things can go here... like

they are just spinning there wheels

it is like kissing your sister

etc...

the offense has been broken since time out of mind...the defense has been decent and sometimes stellar for the most part...

so I have an idea lets tear down the defense again this year and build it up again..oh what joy:(
