DeMarco Murray. 3rd round pick 71 6th RB selected overall. ALL PRO

1 year only, all pro 1800+ yards, 12 fumbles including a big one costing us playoff game, then we don't sign him, that's why we are in this position now, we let an all pro RB go, lol

How often do the Cowboys have a chance at the top RB in the draft.

I say hardly ever. Once again we can always get a DE or CB in the draft or FA (though we may overpay) but if you don't draft a pro bowl type RB it will be hard to grab one in FA or late in the draft that you can depend on.

Zeke has it all, Zeke can play all 3 downs, Zeke can catch out the back field, Zeke is a great blocker, Zeke has no injury history ala McFadden and Matthews. Morris is a good pickup, I like him but only as a backup.

Zeke behind this line does 2 things we can really use.

1- Zeke can block (reminds me of Emmitt and how Emmitt protected Aikman on blitzes)
2- Zeke can wear down a defense which in turn keeps our offense on the field and the defense staying fresh.

I have no doubt the Cowboys will draft Zeke, well they better. Ramsey is maybe the only other player I want at #4 but to maximize our great OL and to protect Romo let's put a RB 6-1 225, runs a 4.4 behind them

People are saying Ramsey is a generational talent at CB. Pretty sure he will be there at four. So add that to how often do we get that. (myself want Wentz, then the RB, then the CB).

I'm not telling you anything, I'm asking you a question. To me it's easier to get a quality CB or DE in the draft or FA then to grab a high end RB that's considered by many to be the best back to come out of college since Peterson. Their will be 30 CBs and DEs drafted within the first 4 rounds but only like 6 RBs therefore it seems we can get a CB or DE at any time but not a RB, I mean a quality RB

I don't agree on the FA side of this. RBs are devalued in the NFL today so it's usually easier and cheaper to get one IMO. You would also have to define what "Quality" is at DE or CB. I mean, how many DEs get drafted that can put up double sack seasons for you? How many CBs get drafted that come out and start for you, make plays in their first season? It's not uncommon, at all, to see a RB get drafted anywhere in the draft and contribute in their first year. If you are talking FA for a DE or a CB that is of quality, they aren't cheap. Two of the most expensive positions in FA.

i bet not many remember the 1977 NFL Draft, that was the year we traded our #14th pick and 3 second rounders to move up to #2 (Seattle) and select Tony Dorsett. what a feeling it was to know you got Tony Dorsett.

40 years ago, how many remember what happened 10 years ago, much less 40.

No. It shows that rbs are not as highly valued as other positions.

My point is, he averaged about 5 yards a carry before he left. He could block, he could catch, he did it all and wasn't a top 4 pick. You DO take DE's and CB's higher than RBs because RBs generally don't last long. You could argue Murray was a product of the Cowboys line to a degree.

It's not that they are not valued, it's just not many good RBs out their. RBs has always came a dime a dozen. 10 DE/DT will go in the 1st round this year and only 2 or 3 will pan out, same thing with CBs.

You can have 5 DE's on the Roster and 5 CBs on the Roster and they all can suck, I'm talking about 1sr and 2nd round picks.. But when you have a RB available at #4, when every draft expert or GM knows he is a top 10 talent why not grab him.

Zeke must be special to be the only RB considered top 10 overall and no other back ranks in the top 50... but it's 20+ combined DEs and CBs rated to go top 50 and I'm sure half of them will not live up to expectations or be flat out bust

I think the thought process IS the more threads started about taking Zeke at 4 is:

A) Maybe it will make it happen
B) When it does not, I get to complain when he has his first 100 yard game for someone else.

Zeke at 4 is not going to happen, the only way he plays for the Boys this year is if they trade down. Even then I think they go DL, QB or CB.

Dallas usually has a realistic chance to draft the top RB every year. Some years there isn't one taken until the second round.

Pretty sure we have a shot at the top ranked punter, kicker, and long snapper. Might be able to snatch all three before another team has a chance!

We have even had two chances in the same draft at the top HB lol

More than almost any other position--almost EVERY year is a year that you can grab a very good (or great) RB outside of the top 5.

Just scroll through the very draft for the last 15 years. Unless there were no good RBs in the draft, almost 100% of the time, the best RB are taken outside the top 5...and much of the time even outside the 1st round altogether.

I don't know where people are getting that RBs are devalued in the NFL. NO....the Cowboys devalued the RB. OR, they just didn't want to pay D. Murray. And unless you're in that front office, we can only speculate why they didn't pay Murray or Miller. Maybe they saw something we didn't see. I'm hoping for Zeke. But, I'm elated with Ramsey. But a QB....we can get later.

Sure you can. Even though all evidence clearly shows otherwise.

From where. I guess you're calling McFadden and Morris quality backs then....

1K+ yards in a season vs the price we paid for him isn't quality? Not paying the bill has you confused about what quality is.
