I love country music because it speaks to the soul and is brutally honest. Many people do not like country music. In my opinion they are missing out. When you listen to the lyrics of the songs they are talking about the human experience and emotions. I love that country music is not afraid to be patriotic. It means a lot to me.

You'll find this in many types of music....you just have to listen to the right bands.

I always had a few country songs that I liked before this, but this song got me completely hooked on country music. I don't hardly listen to anything other than country music anymore.

There are so many great country songs that I love, some of which have already been mentioned ("He Stopped Loving Her Today"), but there are a few that might be a bit more obscure... I'll start with this beautiful ballad by Pam Tillis:

These lines are just magic:

Every now and then, he offers her a shoulder
Every now and then, she opens up
Every now and then, a bridge crosses over
It's a moment every lover knows...

I also find myself thinking of Ray Charles right now (believe it or not), a medley he did of "I Can't Stop Lovin' You/Born to Lose"...

I can't find it on You Tube, though...

And how can I forget the legendary Patsy Cline, when she's buried about 2 miles from where I'm sitting right now?? Patsy was perhaps the first crossover country artist, and my favorite song by her might be more pop than country:

Jimmy Buffett said it best, when he wrote in "Miss You So Badly":

I've got a head full of feelin' higher
And an ear full of Patsy Cline
There is just no one who can touch her
Hell, I'll hang on every line...

I know what he means...
