Best Cowboys player from your alma mater

I went to a small liberal arts school that has probably never produced anything close to an NFL player.

I also went to a small private high school that has produced one NFLer, and he happened to play for the Cowboys. Kalen Thornton, a backup linebacker for a couple of years, was a year ahead of me in school. That guy was a man among boys, an athletic beast in high school. Kind of lets you know just how talented and athletic NFL players must be.

Troy Aikman, UCLA

Although I didn't go there, it has always been my college team.

Ken Norton is the only other player from there of note for us.

Dude that SO does not count. :lmao2:

The worst: Derrick Lassic
The greatest: George Teague

The University of Alabama

Actually, that's almost the whole list anyway :)

I guess I'll add Lee Roy Jordan to that list, although he was a few years before my time...

Is it really just Bob Slowikowski from Virginia Tech? Can that be true -- who am I forgetting?

Never mind.

There was Matt Lehr, Jesse Penn and Joe Jones (?) in 1985.

So I suppose it is Matt Lehr or Jesse Penn.

Thanks, Hos. You beat me to it. I should have remembered Lehr and Penn of course. I went to school with Penn. Brain fart.

There was only one who played for the cowboys and he was a punter...Colin Ridgway from Lamar

1982 thru 88. Never did get that damn degree. Played a few pick up games with Mo Cheeks.

No total superstars from my schools but some decent players

Grad school was
North Carolina
..Greg Ellis (whining aside, he had a decent Cowboy career...1 Pro Bowl, 1 comback of year, etc)
..Ebenzer Ekuban
..there are others but I won't list them

Undergrad was
East Carolina
..Robert Jones (solid career, he was ROY, Pro Bowl, 3 SB rings, 4th best season ever in tackles with 162)
..Vinson Smith (pretty decent LB too)
..John Jett (very good punter and 3 SB rings)
..several others from ECU, but those are only worth mentioning
---------------

trivia:
best NFL Tarheel: Lawrence Taylor (Peppers may be 2nd)
best NFL Pirate: Earnest Byner or Jeff Blake...but could be Chris Johnson

The mighty football factory that is the University of Central Florida did not have any noteable players for the Dallas Cowboys. Last one that was on the roster was camp fodder Siaha Burley in 2001.

cricket anderson from UCONN

Was one of the happiest days of my life to see him drafted by us. I'm a UConn season ticket holder and have been since Rentschler Field opened (was when I was in school).

Edsall is doing a great job putting out some great players, I was hoping we were going to grab William Beatty in the 2nd round this year but that didn't happen, sadly.

2009 was the best year ever for UConn in the draft. They were right there with the very best programs w/ guys in the 1st two rounds....nice.
