Best Dog foods? canned and dry

My dog isn't "my kid". He is a part of my family though. And just as important as myself in this thing I call a family. To me he's more like a "brother" or a "best-friend" though, not a "kid". He's my bud and I just want to be as good a friend to him as he's always been to me.

Canned dog food is basically all I have ever given my dog. 2 cans a day. And NEVER had one dental problem.

Sorry but I call BS here. I worked at a vet long enough to see a crap ton of dogs with bad teeth, and almost every owner had their dog on canned food or gave them scraps regularly.


I'd highly recommend switching to dry. The problem with their teeth doesn't stop at their teeth. Eventually the tartar buildup will get into their heart and will cause heart problems (especially in older dogs).



It's not rocket science, if they don't eat/chew anything to clean their teeth (dry food) then their teeth don't get cleaned. And 1 or 2 milk bones a day won't get the job done.

I'm talking about Bacos (and bacon bits). The stuff that isn't "Real" bacon. Cuz I've bought bacon pieces made from real bacon and didn't have any problems with them at all. But those bacos, they taste great, but they mess my stomach up.

While there are a lot of brands of bacon bits (using real bacon flavor), the "classic" Betty Crocker brand is made of soy, (and no MSG, if it bothers you). It's a great way for vegetarians and kosher-eating people to have a "bacon-like" experience.

My wife has the same problem so now she buys the real ones made by hormel..

My dog only gets Science Diet. That and a piece of bacon or steak on occasion.
