There is 100% absolutely NOTHING that you can EVER say that will change that indisputable fact.
You wanna choose teams? I'll take Staubach...and my team will beat Aikman's team...EV-ER-Y TIME!!
I will NEVER back down from that stance....EVER!!
P.S. Staubach had a better career passer rating. No doubt that means nothing to you.....pffft
P.S.S. Steve Beuerlein woulda won those superbowls at QB with that team.
Well, there is your homer meter for you. Staubach better than Dan Marino, better than Johnny U, better than Montana... He was a good player, good QB and great leader but no way was he better than Marino, Elway and Montana.Rackat;1997843 said:Roger Staubach 65
Joe Montana 58+
Otto Graham 44
John Elway 34
Troy Aikman 37
Johnny Unitas 33
Peyton Manning 20-
Dan Marino 10
Speaking of homerism, when the greatest QB's are discussed, I never hear Joe Theisman's name mentioned. Wonder why that is?firehawk350;1997844 said:Well, there is your homer meter for you. He's not great maybe??? What, you expect me to defend him just because he was a Commander? I have no problem admitting Theismann wasn't great, he was just good.Rackat;1997853 said:Speaking of homerism, when the greatest QB's are discussed, I never hear Joe Theisman's name mentioned. Sammy Baugh was a great QB for his time, and was named ESPN's or SI's (one of the two, I forget) best all around player. The only player in history to throw 4 TD passes and intercept 4 passes in the same game.
Sonny Jerguson was probably among the top pure passers in history. He was just amazing throwing the ball. But, he isn't in the top 5 QB talk IMO.
Other than those two, I'm not overly impressed with any QB in team history. There were some good ones, but only those two qualify as great.
I wasn't advocating their inclusion in this thread at all, he just asked about Theismann to see if I would homer it up so to head off his future questions (how about Rypien, how about Williams, how about Ramsey...) I told him the only Commander QBs that I consider among the league greats and tell him the rest run the gamut from good (Rypien) to horrible (Shuler).THUMPER;1997870 said:I brought up Sammy Baugh earlier in this thread and I have him ranked in my top-5 all-time QBs (link) but he was not a contestant in this thread.
Actually, you quoted my QB rating post, in response I asked the question about Theisman. Since I had given points to Montana, I was curious why you would use my post as an example of homerism. I think we all know that the Commanders have not had an elite quarterback.firehawk350;1997898 said:I wasn't advocating their inclusion in this thread at all, he just asked about Theismann to see if I would homer it up so to head off his future questions (how about Rypien, how about Williams, how about Ramsey...)
