In a recent flag football game...Staubachs team beat Aikmans team..as predicted here.
Staubach passed for a couple TD's and ran for another. He's what?...65?
I'd take Staubach over Aikman in a 1 on 1 game of basketball if they played tomorrow.
Roger Staubach may well be the most competitive person on the planet. He absolutely refuses to lose.
You realize of course, Staubach had his greatest statistical season 2 full years older than Aikman was when he was inducted into the HOF.
Let us not compare Aikman to Staubach ever again.
Staubach>>>Aikman.....EVERY DAY, IN EVERY WAY!

Please tell me your not serious. Maybe Roger CARED a little more about that FLAG FOOTBALL game than Troy did. I say this as a 44 year old who plays flag football every Saturday against 20 somethings. Believe me, I have more to prove than they do.
In terms of Aikman's age when entering the Hall, can you say INJURIES. And injuries, btw, also affected his performance late in his career. I challenge you to even carry the groceries into your house with a bad lower back, and Aikman was playing football with it. (In some instances because of cortisone shots)
Aikman still had better statistics than Staubach and set most of the Cowboys passing records and that is a fact. That doesn't make Troy better, I was simply responding to the guy who couldn't put Aikman above Marino because of stats, but COULD put Roger there. I was showing that this didn't square. And the reasoning doesn't square.
In terms of being KNOWN as a winner because he came through with the GAME ON THE LINE, well, 3 Super Bowl wins out of 3 Super Bowl tries, and I think the 3rd highest playoff winning pct of all-time puts Troy about as high as you can go on that scale. Pull his passing stats in NFC Championship games and Super Bowls and I think he sufficiently spoke for himself.
In terms of TEAMS. And I say this with all due respect, but that whole argument has been blown way out of proportion. Where do I begin?
#1 - Nobody wins without great TEAMS. Period.
-Bradshaw - Steel Curtain defense, Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth.
-Montana - Rice, Taylor, Craig
-Roger - Dorsett, Doomsday I and II, Pearson, Tony Hill, Bob Hayes, Lance Alworth, Duane Thomas, Calvin Hill, and a whole host of others.
I'm absolutely fine with people loving Roger, he was my first favorite player ever. I still have his book "Time Enough to Win." GREAT, GREAT QB.
I just don't disrespect Aikman, there is enough of that out there, and its nonsense.
