Jeff Beck - People Get Ready

People Get Ready is one of my all time favorite songs. I like the R&B version much better but just a great tune. I enjoy Jeff Beck's instrumental version as well. Sam Cooke sings this song and it's poetry. Great, great song.

Yeah................I've heard, I believe, every version of this song ever recorded. The song itself is great, and put it Beck's hands and forget it. He does it so good that I even don't mind Rod Stewart singing the lyrics.

The only down-side to the Beck version is that it's too short. I wish he would've done more like a ten minute anthem-type thing.

Jeff Beck has always seemed so underrated when talking about guitar greats.

I don't know if he's underrated as much as it is that he's never pushed for THAT side of things. He's one of those guys who doesn't care much for the lime-light, and could care less how he's measured up against other guitar players. He's that good...............

He doesn't need Rolling Stone's validation or Billboards recognition for him to measure his own talent. He's not arrogant or cocky, he just knows who he is and what he does, and that's enough for him. He's in it for the music first and foremost, and however the chips fall after that, I don't think he really cares a rats butt.

Mark Knopfler, the point man for Dire Straits is like that too. Ironically, both Beck and Knopfler are arguably the two best "finger" guys of their generation. No picks, all finger play...............bloody fingers and fingertips like leather and all.
