Half a dozen of Clint Eastwood's starting with the Good Bad and Ugly
And there have been some fairly recently that were pretty good such as Open Range.
Trying to narrow it done to top 5 or Top 10 is all but impossible.
John Wayne was my favorite western actor; but Clint was sure a close second.
Sam Elliot; right there as well.
And the character actors from Walter Brennan to Slim Pickens; superb.
Some not so well known TV movies like Duel at Diablo.

. Eastwood jokes about how critical the Duke was of his script and he told him that he wasn't portraying the West correctly. They also kind of crossed paths with Dirty Harry. Dirty Harry was originally written to star Frank Sinatra but he hurt his hand just before filming. John Wayne was offered the role but turned it down because he said he wouldn't take one of Sinatra's rejects. Eastwood was the third choice, and probably ended up being the best. I would kind of like to have seen how Sinatra played the role though.
