When the time comes I wouldn’t bet against Dak becoming the richest Cowboy player ever.

That probably isn’t a path to the Super Bowl, but it avoids the path to complete uncertainty.

And for all of his professional tolerance for ambiguity , Jethro isn’t starting from scratch at QB anytime soon.

Our dysfunctional ownerships insistence on remaining “ relative and interesting “ hedges on a playoff caliber Franchise QB regardless the implications thereof .

I don’t think Jerry has the intestinal fortitude to do what’s right and let Dak walk, that said he is getting everything he wants which is keeping the Cowboys in the news and relevant and that is Jerry’s main goal. Unfortunately Dak will get paid and Jerry will be telling everyone what a deal he got at only 62 million a year and how he got a home team deal. Sad but the writing on the wall always has been and I be shocked and extremely happy if he lets Dak walk, but it’s just not happening

If the plan is to tear it down after this year, which I believe it is, why would you resign an aging quarterback to another long term deal when he's owed 95 mil over the next two years, the second year is dead money against the cap......So many coaches and players are either on one year deals or last year of contracts which indicates to me a rebuild is in the works for 2025...It doesn't make a lot of sense to me resigning Dak to as I see it as an albatross contract on this franchise in two years from now.....

I'm for letting Dak walk after this year, trade Parsons for picks since I believe this franchaise is growing tired of his act....If Ceedee wants to be the highest paid receiver, then if you're looking to rebuild after this year, then I'd be willing to trade him as well.....

I don't think it's intestestinal fortitude, I think it's the "tik...tik" passage of time. How confident is Jerry that he will still be around when they find that "worthy" QB?

Agreed, but you don’t retain Prescott then go into rebuild mode. It’s either/or.

I do not believe that they will voluntarily go down the rebuild path. The rest of the roster isn’t bad enough to justify that, and we know they think more of it than anyone else, so there’s no rebuild.

Problem is the windows don’t really line up as far as top players and their salaries, etc.

If anything they should be scrambling to win during the final years of Lamb/Parsons rookie deals, but clearly don’t understand the opportunity window….because they want to believe that it can be perpetually open, when the system is designed to prevent that.

So you believe Dak will turn down an offer by Jethro which makes him the highest paid QB?
Dak and his agent have probably already given the lowest number they'd accept to the Jones's. It's a number they clearly don't like. I don't see how it is anything other than obvious. I don't think there is any negotiating because they are so far off.

I appreciate your comment but until we see what that number is Jethro isn’t willing to pay , I’ll remain on the wait and see seat.

From the language both sides are using I absolutely think so.

Plus dak positioned himself to reach free agency and maximize his earnings with his last deal. I honestly don’t think that being the highest paid qb is what Dak is after. I think he’s out to truly reset the market and get every last dime he can.

I hope I’m wrong, I’d like to see Dak resign for $55 mil per over the next 5 years, but I think he’s likely looking at the $65m he could make by waiting 8 months.

No team has ever done what Dallas would do by letting Prescott walk. Closest would be Cousins in Washington, but they were pretty clear about not trying very hard to keep him
Just happened with cousins again as he went to Atlanta. Teams are moving on from “franchise” qbs at a higher rate than ever right now. Wilson, Rodgers, cousins have all been moved the last three years.

I appreciate your thoughts . I don’t know what the number is but I’d think it’s around 60.

Yes but both GB and Sea basically had another Franchise QB in waiting not having to start over. And were nearing end of their careers not in middle of it.
