I appreciate your comment but until we see what that number is Jethro isn’t willing to pay , I’ll remain on the wait and see seat.
Yeah, things can change but I bet France said no less than $60 mil/per because he believes that he will get it on the open market. Todd France is a hard-baller. I think the Cowboys are taking the right approach. Let someone else worry about it.

I appreciate your thoughts . I don’t know what the number is but I’d think it’s around 60.
Yeah it’s a ton of guess work by anyone posting on this board and we need to all keep that in mind before these threads get uncivil as many Dak threads do lol.

I just try to put myself in the players shoes. He has a ton of control over his next deal, is just a few months from having multiple bidders, and an owner who has used his contract situation to tell the fans they don’t have money to spend in free agency, and he expects more out of the qb coming off an all pro season. I’d have no problem giving Jerry the middle finger after this season if I were Dak.

I hear ya. My intention is to try and figure out what Jethro’s mindset is not ours.

Yes but both GB and Sea basically had another Franchise QB in waiting not having to start over. And were nearing end of their careers not in middle of it.
For GB you’re correct but I’d push back that Seattle had a great plan B. Plus I don’t think Wilson was that old when that trade happened was he? Probably just a couple years older than Dak is now but I’d have to look that up.

Just happened with cousins again as he went to Atlanta. Teams are moving on from “franchise” qbs at a higher rate than ever right now. Wilson, Rodgers, cousins have all been moved the last three years.
Biggest difference is Cousins is 35. Rodgers was 39. Prescott is 30

Nobody expects 30 year old Rodgers this year, or he’d be at the top of every qb ranking

If the plan is to tear it down after this year, which I believe it is, why would you resign an aging quarterback to another long term deal when he's owed 95 mil over the next two years, the second year is dead money against the cap......So many coaches and players are either on one year deals or last year of contracts which indicates to me a rebuild is in the works for 2025...It doesn't make a lot of sense to me resigning Dak to as I see it as an albatross contract on this franchise in two years from now.....

I'm for letting Dak walk after this year, trade Parsons for picks since I believe this franchaise is growing tired of his act....If Ceedee wants to be the highest paid receiver, then if you're looking to rebuild after this year, then I'd be willing to trade him as well.....
Serious question…when was the last time this organization did an intentional complete tear down, lose a bunch of games rebuild? I say it was either 1989-90 or maybe as a stretch 2000-02.

In other words owner/GM has said publicly he doesn’t like to rebuild. He hates it. And he is delusional enough to believe he’s just been “unlucky”. He doesn’t believe for a second that his current team is NOT “at the rim”. Again, he’s delusional.

I will believe it’s a rebuild when it happens.

Jerry will eventually resign Dak because Rush and Lance are showing they simply are not good enough to be made starters, plus the Cowboys don't have a better younger talent at QB waiting in the wings. With Dak, the Cowboys still remain playoff capable relevant on a yearly basis, so expect Jerry to resign Dak to a monster deal soon.

Dak is currently turning down what he believes is low ball offers. The cowboys will continue to increase their offer until Dak gets everything he wants and signs. No different than the last time they negotiated.

Nah. I’d rate get keep my money (since I don’t make millions) even if I don’t care about how Jerry spends his.

Cousins left the Vikings and Commanders. They didn’t leave him. Wilson wasn’t a franchise QB when they got rid of him and it took Rodger’s to turn 40 to leave. We’ve never seen a situation like this where a guy is at the prime of his career and the organization is too incompetent to get him so they let him walk for a comp pick. It would be one of the dumbest mistakes in recent memory.

Cousins may have left those teams but Dak is also positioned to leave the cowboys if he wishes. I think that situation is very similar to Dak.

Agree on Rodgers, that is a different situation however Wilson was a pro bowl player his last year with Denver and required multiple 1st round picks and a $240m extension. He was absolutely viewed as a franchise qb at the time of the trade.

I agree it’s a complete waste of resources for the cowboys. He either should have been resigned by now or they should have moved on already. Jerry is managing this franchise like it’s 1980 and it’s why so many feel like this is set to be a wasted season.

Why would Dak want to move?
Because the owner won’t add talent to the roster? Because we have no idea who the HC will be a year from now. Because the owner told the fans a big reason he sat out free agency was because the qb (and two others) wants more money. Because we just let his starting LT and C walk out the door. Because Jerry is playing hardball with his contract for the second time? Because such a high volume of cowboy fans don’t like the man to the point that his own brother has publicly said he should leave Dallas?

Also because there are several teams that will be in position to pay him top of the market money and they are not exactly bad teams either, Pittsburgh being a team to watch.

If Jerry extends Dak it makes my Sunday afternoons much easier.
I can look forward to relaxing and spending quality time outdoors or doing church related things without wondering who won.
I've already pretty much let go of the Cowboys; this would likely solidify it.
So I will not fret if he signs Dak.

If I’m Dak I’m halting all talks until next offseason. I’m going into 2025 FA as the #1 FA on an open market.

If I’m the Cowboys I’m letting him walk. He’s over 30, never won anything, and chokes in big games. Sign Lamb and Parsons and find a franchise QB.

You are right on Russ he still had the rep but he was considered on the decline at the time but still fleeced the Broncos. But even with Russ….they got multiple first rounders….i can’t even compare that to Dak because we are past compensation….we are looking at a third round pick….

And you are right they are running this team like it’s the 80s and watching everyone else pass them by.

Probably what’s best but if I don’t have a QB I trade Parsons and Micah and do a straight rebuild. I need to have some draft picks to build with I don’t know if I need Micah and Lamb here to just lose.
