Those 92-93 teams were, IMO, squarely in the convo for best teams of all time. Talk about depth, it was incredible. Backups on those teams would've been starters on most.

That's OK, before the wreck, Erik Williams was talked about in the same breath as Larry.

Erik and Nate were considered one of the best 2nd level pass blocking duos of all time.

Better athletes on the 92 team but the 77 Cowboys dominated the league like no cowboys team before or since.
Imo best team via era was the 77 version and it’s not even close

I'm thinking the same thing. That '77 team was one of the most dominant super bowl teams in history. And besides that, I think the '93 Cowboys were better than the '92 team.

The 89 49ers were close to unbeatable as well imo. They would have 3-peated had it not been for a Roger Craig fumble the next year against the Giants. I also believe Dallas could have 3 or 4 peated as well in the 90s if Jimmy Johnson had stayed as coach.

How do you think the 1993 Cowboys were better? I just look at the relative ease the 92 team seemed to beat the Bills compared to 93...though both games weren't exactly close.

I wasn't around in 1977 and was but a small child in 92. With that said and after all of the things I know about the Cowboys, I'd say that the 93 team was probably the best we've ever had.

Of course the many people here that are smarter than I please correct me because I know that DL of the 70's was probably way better than most teams ever had.

I believe the 92 Cowboys, 49ers, Bills, and Eagles are the four best teams ever assembled. Those four teams would beat any team from any era. There have been many good teams. But those teams were good and deep. Something that can’t be replicated today. Even the 92 eagles team could beat the 85 bears as they had a terrific defense and a more threatening offense.

This is a fun thread given the mood about the current team…which I share.

I think the 1992 49ers were excellent but I'm not sure if they are then the best 49ers team ever assembled. The same goes with the 1992 Bills.

Sadly a great DL does not by itself win many championships. Doomsday 1 and 2 saw only 2 Lombardi's despite having incredible D lines. Doomsday 2 had arguably the greatest in history with Too Tall, Havey, Dutton and Manster.
The Fearsome Foursome of the Rams did not get a ring. The Purple People Eater D line did not get a ring.

I'd say '92, easy - with no disrespect to the legends. '77 had the better QB though.

What I find incredible about the '92 team is that they were playing alongside the Eagles and Football Team, who were contenders themselves.

Hard to argue against the NFC East being the best division in football for the 80s and most of the 90s

I loved the 1977 team but even though we won the SB we still could not beat the Steelers, who we lost to in regular season that year....

The 92 team was just so young but they dominated in all 3 phases....people would say just wait till the play so and so, but they passed every test including the mighty niners. The NFC was dominant back then but thus young team got through it and dominated a very very good Buffalo team in the SB.

Loved them both, but it has to be the '92 team for me.

Let's address the elephant in the room regarding the '77 team. We're we not fortunate in playing Craig Morton and the Broncos in the SB instead of Stabler and thd Raiders or Bradshaw and the Steelers? Especially since, well you know, Pittsburgh seemed to find a way to beat Dallas in the mid-late '70s, including the regular season game at Pittsburgh in '77. Not gonna lie... wanted no part of the Steelers in the SB that year.

And there in lies the difference...after beating SF in the NFC Championship Game, NONE of us feared the Bills, let's be honest folks. We feared no one. As a fan was quite confident going into both of those SBs against the Bills.

Jerry said he could win with any of 500 coaches. Sadly when Switzer won in the SB Jan 96 with a team built by Ackles, Wooten, and Jimmy, and gift wrapped by Neil O' Donnel, Jerry decided he knew football. The fans have been paying ever since.

The 77 tead had three stud, young hungry dominators on the DL: Randy White 16 sacks, Harvey Martin 23 sacks, and Too Tall Jones. They would rain QB sacks and hurries on Aikman. The Manster dominated the middle of the line and would impede Emmitt's interior running.

They had football's best tandem at safety, Cliff Harris and Charlie Waters.

On offense, the team was led by Roger the Dodger, Heisman and rookie of the Year Tony Dorsett with 4.3 speed, and Hall of Fame receiver Drew Pearson. On the OL, they had Hall of Famer RT Rayfield Wright, and two other multi-year Pro Bowl guys, Pat Donovan and Herb Scott.

Thst 77 team steamrolled everyone in the playoffs.
