The difference is that there have been guards available that were paid about the same as Davis that excel in both areas. For Davis to be a good deal he has to be a dominant OL or it was another mistake in free agency.

Leonard Davis looked really good run blocking, even dominant at times. I really like that, and knew we would get that from him.

But folks, I have read all the excitment about him, and I understand that, and he should be an upgrade over Rivera,

BUT

Bigg still concerns me in the passing game. I have posted more than once that I went back and looked at games he played Guard in Arizona. One thing was very obvious. If he gets his hands on you and is in front of you, you are not getting close to the QB, but if a quick move is made on him there are times his feet are just stuck in the ground and the DT is quickly inside to the QB. It seemed to happen about 3 or 4 times a game.

Twice this showed up in the Pre-Season game against the Colts. I have really been hoping this is an improved area for BIGG, after last night it does not seem to be.

So what I am really saying here is I expect at times for BIGG to just look dominant, but the history shows about 3 or 4 times a game he is going to get beat with a quick move in Pass Protection and Romo is going to go down quickly with a hit or sack.

I love watching the big man knock people silly in the run game, but his pass protection still concerns me. He has to improve in this area. I am wondering if he can.

This is a fair assessment, IMO. I would bet the Cowboys would design a set of their protections to account for this issue, as most offenses tend to do with this sort of thing.

Most guards will have trouble with that same move, as the majority of them are much better at the point of attack and struggle in space. And I don't believe anyone here will mistake Bigg for Steve Hutchinson anytime soon.

I can live with a guard getting beat off the ball a few times a game. It's going to happen. Interior guys will shoot gaps and sometimes they'll simply win battles. As long as we can limit those plays in short yardage and goal line situations, I think we will be ok.

When Wade does cut him, do you think that would effect the salary cap much?

What a waste of a player! The bastid missed a block or 3...and it's the first game of the pre-season! The fat sucker should have played better than that!

Stop putting words in my mouth. As a matter of fact if you actually read the thread I give him some compliments as well. This is not a BIGG sucks thread. this is about a concern to keep an eye on, not an agenda. I also said he is an upgrade over Rivera.

And I never claimed to be an expert, shoot if I sit down with my wife who knows nothing about football, she can see it if I show it to her. It is not that hard. No expertise needed. All that is needed is to see 3 games, plus a pre-season game, not have an agenda, no homerism allowed, and WALA.

The problem is most people are making an opinion and statements without seeing a damn thing. They just say something based on news clippings, make an argument and play to an agenda. Actually it is sad.

No, your post is nothing but a "chicken little" post. T.O. has dropped some balls, too! Should we expect him to catch every ball thrown to him? Romo and Gurode fumbled a snap or two in their lifetime, should we expect them to never do that? Julias Jones lost a few yards during his runs. Should we expect him to never do that? Roy Williams missed a tackle here and there. Should we expect him to never miss a tackle?

A second play was questionable. The DT stunted wide to the (defensive) left. It's hard to say that Bigg "whiffed" on him. The DT went too far wide to get to Romo, who completed a first down to Fasano.

The first was the one to Fasano when he had a guy in his face.
The second was on the next drive, Romo had to throw short to
Crayton on 3rd down, stalled that drive. If im wrong then shoot me.

If he stays at guard it will be okay since he will be taking on slower lineman and there aren't many stronger players than him. He will be beaten by a fast end though alot... (which is why the cardinals are stupid for putting him at LT, and why they also drafted a Bigg clone from that lineman fron Penn State)

I didn't really see him be DOMINANT in the preseason, but he didn't look bad. No mistakes is good enough for me.
