Most prognosticators have either Philly or the Nyg winning the east. I personally don't think either team will be a force in the NFC. Which team do you think is stronger and why?

To me its no question Philly. They got better everywhere, although losing Jim Johnson will hurt. I think Philly will battle us for the division title. 12-4/11-5.

I'm picking NYG to finish 3rd at 9-7. They are going to struggle on offense, and while their defense is really good, I dont know that their defensive line can carry them an entire season.

First off I wanna say that neither team is far and beyond better than we are.

I know a lot of the media is portraying it that way but its just not the truth.

Between the 2 though I would have to say the Giants are the better team.

I really think the Giants Defense is going to be really good this year.

They got droves of Dlinemen, a really solid LB core, and a secondary with a lot of potential to grow.

They need their receivers to step up but Kevin Boss and those 2 RB's should get the job done while Hixon, Smith, and Hicks develop into their new roles.

Without Plax though they do take a step back Offensively because so many times Eli has had Plaxico bail him out.

Losing Spagnuolo does hurt though. They better hope their next guy in line is willing to bring pressure like he did.

Philly lost Jim Johnson, they pass to much, and their receivers are really all or nothing type of guys.

A lot like when we had Joey and Rocket out Wide except these 2 haven't proven to even be that good yet.

I do like Westbrook and I do like Lesean McCoy.

McNabb is one of the best in the game but he can never stay injury free and even if he does stay healthy he can't keep himself in shape.

So i'll go with the Giants between the 2.

Lets just hope neither of these teams land Anquan Boldin before the season starts.

Yeah Philly losing B. Dawkins and Jim Johnson is HUGE. That's like the HEART and SOUL of the defense, PLUS the BRAINS right there.

I think the Giants D will be sick with that DL rotation.

Yeah but don't get me wrong....

The Eagles and Randy Moss are 2 things that the Cowboys should never ever ever ever under-estimate.

I just think the Giants are a better club but I could see the Eagles giving us more problems than the Giants.

Plus Romo has won 4 out of 5 against the Giants when he has started.

He is 2 W - 3 L vs Philly.

I think the eagles and Giants are pretty equal but I give a slight edge to Philly due to coaching and being a more complete team. Philly usually starts off slow and than heats up at the end of the season. I see the giants starting off hot due to there defense and teams not knowing what they will do in the passing game. than later on the Giants offense will struggle and that will be there downfall.

I think its Philly...and they don't scare me one bit. I think we will see how pedestrian Eli really is now that Plaxico is gone. That team is going to struggle a whole bunch I think.

Really!?! I didn't know that, but I put very little if any stock into what "they" say.

If you meant between the Eagles and Giants ...

I'd take the Eagles. Why? ... while many of you already know that the Brian Dawk and Coach Jim Johnson losses will be felt; however, the Eagles have upgraded and are a better team than last year. The Eagles have also done an incredible job in filling the gaps and replacing Coach Johnson with a Jim Johnson protege coaching staff. The Giants too have lost key players in Plaxico Burress and Armani Toomer; two huge losses that the Giants will feel immediately.

If you meant which team in the NFC-East ...

...that could go in any direction. The NFC-East is everything but predictable.

Here's my "personal" read:

Eagles
Cowboys/Giants
Commanders

The Cowboys have been and will continue to be their own biggest threat until they prove otherwise.

Just a wild guess, but I say the eagles because of the way they moped up the floor with the vaunted Dallas defense and the otherwise high-performance offense last December.

Bone to pick with Philly, bad blood with Giants.

Philly have talent, Giants are nothing sexy but they get it done.

Philly on paper is the bigger threat, Giants in December may be however.

The loss of Dawkins will hurt them but they still have a very strong secondary and some good pass-rushers. The Eagles D will be good again this year. And Westbrook always scares me.

I think you mentioned it and some of the Cowboys fans here didn't as of yet. How do you lose your #1 AND #2 receiver and become a favorite to win it the East? The Giants lost Spags and Osi is going to be hugely disappointed that Winston Justice doesn't start for every team he plays against. He has never seen double digit sacks except that one season. I don't expect a tremendous amount from him realistically.

Secondarily, I'm definitely not sold on their running backs staying healthy all season when they have to carry Eli's sorry * all season long. It's hard to develop ROOKIE receivers as legitimate passing threats when they have crap receivers in front of them who only command a double team if they're on Madden.

Philly, big losses on defense. Peters? Okay, Osi may think he IS playing against Winston Justice again twice a year. The loss of Jim Johnson is big.

The biggest elements are of course Westbrook and McNabb. Mc has only finished two seasons back to back twice in 10 years. Westbrook has lows in total yards, yards per carry, and yards per catch last season going back to his first two years in the league. No matter how you look at it, the Eagles focal point of the offense might have hit the wall last season despite their success.

My take:

Dallas
Eagles
Giants/Washington and one if not both will have a losing season.

No Plax and Spagnula gone hurt the Giants.

Johnson and Dawkins hurt the birds.

In the end neither team will be better then last year and I think the Giants will be worse.

I certainly realize where loyalty interferes with objectivity - heck my subjective feelings totally contradict what ESPN and opponent fans are saying sometimes.

That said, we've talked about the Giants and the Eagles loss of key critical componentsthat could impact their respective teams, but the Cowboys have sustained losses also that will impact performance. For example,

I think the Dallas Cowboys may not necessarily be as strong (on both sides of the ball) as they were last year, taking into consideration their loss of TO, Ellis and their Probowl potential. Not to mention, Pacman Jones in the secondary, Roy Williams, and Anthony Henry.

Realistically, all I'm saying is that we've all taken hits from losing key players (coaches) from our rosters. This could cancel out any one of us dominating the league or it could upset the balance of NFC-East power. That, and just a *sprinkle* of bias is how I justify the following ...

Eagles
Dallas/Giants
Commanders

The loss of Roy Williams and Anthony Henry in the secondary are pretty much universally viewed as positives for our team.

Ellis was a 3rd down situational pass rusher only for the majority of last season.

I think you look at your new thread and see why I think NY is going nowhere this upcoming season. 2010? They might get back on track with a year under the belts of both of their drafted receivers, but I would be very hesistant to put much faith in a slot reciever, at best, being their #1 guy.
