Biggest 2023 cap hits via Spotrac

Hilarious that his cap hit is higher than Mahomes and Allen. Best thing to do is draft a QB in the incoming draft and let the rookie cook and develop, similar to Mahomes while Alex Smith was still the starter, while Prescott continues to stink it up until his contract expires. Hopefully we can keep a SB window open for that long….

Lets cry over 2 maybe 3 years of cap pressure from Prescott'scontract, after when its said and done, he will have given us 5 to 8 years of decent QB play.

Its laughable to use someone for 5 years and then complain about paying him for a couple of years.

Who would ever want to be an Alpha if thats how Alphas act? Its like a petulant child that uses excuses.

That 2-3 years of cap pressure will be well worth it to see at least 2 more playoff wins. I’m stoked

Remember, Mahomes has a 10 year deal, Dak's is effectively 4 years. With a CAP friendly first year, and a restructure in the 2nd, Dak's CAP impact next year and in 2024 are unavoidable, unless they extend him again. The Worst part of Dak's contract is the term. If he was getting $40 million for 10 years even I would not complain about his deal. Mahomes is getting $45 million for 10 years.

I can promise you that cap number for 2023 will be restructured
You’re probably right but the cowboys are running out of years to put money into. Already over $50mm hot for 2024 and over $20mm in the 2025 void year.

The cowboys might want to get ahead of Daks deal before they have to pay Diggs/Parsons which both probably require record deals.

Yet another Dak thread which is going after anyone critical of Dak or his contract. Differing opinions are allowed and welcomed and not things that will cause you any harm.

I'll put it this way .........if you can find me a rookie QB that can guarantee me a better record than 12-5 last season.......let's talk. I say guarantee coz Dak has done it. In other words, we know what we have with Dak, but drafting a rookie?

Yeah we know exactly what we have in Dak, a QB that is not going to take this team anywhere. 6 years has proven that fact. I would rather take my chances with a rookie. Any hope is better then no hope.

You can’t and shouldn’t force a pick at any position, ever. That gets you Taco, T. Hill, and a rapping corner. Just say no to forced picks.

Likewise a team should never pass on talent, even if you have an established starter in front of a guy who has talent that you want to draft. A good example of drafting for talent, not need, got the Packers Rodgers when Favre was already on the roster.

If there is a QB that the team has evaluated as being potentially better than Dak and a franchise QB, then you pull the trigger and draft him even if it’s in the first round if he is appropriately rated on your board. If that’s how you draft board stacks up you pull the trigger.

Then you bring that guy into camp and you develop him and give him every opportunity to win the job outright. If he outperforms Dak then you put your $40m QB on the bench or trade him, if it makes cap sense to do so.

Ryan's dead cap number, when he's released or traded (doubtful) will be about $18M next season. I expect the Mahomes and Allen deals to be redone in time, despite their length.
