I agree. If this was some low income dude down the street they'd be dragged out into the street and beaten.

yup, then his POS lawyers celebrate the “win”! Truly disgusting human beings and a court system that not only discourages women from coming forward, but just crapped all over them and then spit in their face!

The adversarial system which is what we have puts a premium on performing for the judge and jury. Justice is accidental when it happens.
Frankly we need to throw it out and find something completely different but I have yet to hear of a system that would be a lot better.
Justice should be the goal; punish the guilty and free the innocent. Now its all about who can afford the best mouthpieces.

Money is the system and the goal.

And the flip side are the liars trying to take people down. Disgusting. Put them all on the same Island.

THAT has been a growing problem; false charges destroying peoples lives. I agree that anyone found lying like that should pay the same penalty that they claimed the innocent person should pay.

If a rapist should get 20 years or whatever anyone found lying should get 20 years.

The challenge is that rape is such a hard crime to prove. From a physical evidence standpoint.

so often it comes down to credibility and one persons word versus the other.

the other challenge is….. due to the nature of the crime. Victims are so often afraid to come forward. Which makes collecting evidence and investigating it so difficult.

Due to these challenges. Those who can hire the best lawyers. Have such a better chance of getting away with it, than those who cant afford high quality lawyers.

There's this lawyer YouTuber named Legal Eagle. I hope he explains this case. I don't understand why Cosby got as much immunity as he did. You would think his deal would have only applied to the case involving that one woman that he was talking about. So they couldn't prosecute him for anything he did to her, but you would think it wouldn't have any effect on any of the other ones. I guess it somehow gave him a huge amount of blanket immunity for offenses.

The legal justice system in this country cannot and will never work properly as long as all the money is on the defendants' side of the argument. Seldom do the privileged and rich pay for their crimes. They pay the lawyers instead.

They plainly mishandled this case and the judge has to interpret the legality of it, not the morality of it. Incompetence from the prosecutor's office in thinking that Cosby's deal was with the former DA and not the office of the DA was pure bush league. The DA represents the city, mot him/herself.

The Prosecutors associated with the civil case should be sent to prison for their misconduct and incompetence. The PA Supreme Court followed the law. Cosby and his posse should just shut up and move along. Professing his innocence is a &^%$ing joke.

The downfall, while sad, is pretty freaking entertaining.

This country is run by lawyers

The government is 80% lawyers
The “justice system” is obviously lawyers
The healthcare system is run by lawyers because of regulations and lawsuits

The prosecutors did an awful awful awful awful horrific job. The one that offered him immunity in the first place is a ****in idiot.

I wouldn't call that prosecutor stupid now that I know more, just uncaring about the big picture. That lawyer was suing Cosby in a civil case and he knew he could not force Cosby to testify because that would violate the 5th Amendment. So how do you get rid of that pesky Fifth Amendment? You give him immunity. That way he can say all the incriminating things there are and not end up criminally prosecuted. So it helped that lawyer win his civil case, but it hozed the people who wanted Cosby criminally convicted. The civil lawyer won a 3.4 million dollar judgement against him, of which his fee I'm sure was substantial. So that lawyer made great money. However, it was at the price of letting Cosby get away with rape. Stupid? Not at all. Crooked? You bet. Here's a video explaining it more.

Ok. So he is a crooked piece of garbage then. I prefer people who are stupid. To be honest.

.
I mentioned this earlier, but it's not the rich that have the money on their side, the rich have the money to compete with the government. The prosecutors have so much resources at their disposal that most of us cannot compete with. It's why normal people are convicted so easily by the government. The rich happen to make it a more even playing field. If there was a law that spelled out the maximum money the prosecution could spend to match what the defendant could afford there would be a vastly different outcomes - good and bad.

The whole system needs to be junked and start over. Sadly we are still stuck with the lawyers.
