It was Jerry's mess all along, but it was far from cleaned up .. which is why Parcells had to completely rehaul 90% of the roster he inherited from The Jerry and Larry Show.
Once again, do you want to touch The Jerry and Larry Show drafts?

Quite making excuses. You claimed that Jerry wasn't impacted by salary cap hell before Parcells got here. The exact opposite was the case. Dallas was in the absolute worst position in the league.

If you notice in thet quote, the reason for the salary cap was hell was because Dallas was extending player contracts. Jerry stopped doing this by the time Parcells got here, meaning the roster was going to be re-hauled anyways with the death of these contracts no matter the coach.. Dallas was drafting prior to Parcells in the context of all these aging players. A year before Parcells got here, Jerry got rid of his favorite player, Troy AIkman, which showed that he had finally thrown off the remnants of the aging dynasty.
Plus, that 90 percent is a number you drummed up, without any proof. That rehauling was part of the rehauling of Valley Ranch as a whole.

So what was the excused for Parcells in 2004-2006? You know the years he placed 'his stamp' on the Cowboys, switching over to his version of offense and defense and going with his own coaching staff, that same staff that went to Miami. Let us not forget about the fact that he brought in aging veterans. They brought enough wins to make Dallas look somewhat more respectable. Whoppity-doo for them. It was akin to taping a wound with masking tape. Parcells ran away because he didn't have faith in his own roster...
He is lucky Romo came in and made his exit somewhat more respectable than it was going to be. I just loved the look on Parcells face when he took out Bledose. If it was his choice, Bledsoe, the statue would still be in. And how about his look in Carolina prior to the second-half. Even his own ex-players were wondering what the hell was going on and flew down to root him on. ANd don't forget TO, the WR that Parcells didn't want, who is still here and contributed to the explosion that was the Dallas offense in 2007. DOn't get me started on how he was using Witten primarily as a blocking back, until Romo started to actally throw the ball to thim. I especially love those draft picks of Reeves and Nate Jones. Those key weaknesses that left the Dallas defense susceptible all of last year. Dallas had to draft Mike Jenkins and get Pacman after the fact to deal with these issues. ANd Dallas has finally gotten rid of that atrocious staff and sent off players that were clear weaknesses. Akin Ayodele sucked and guess what? Parcells took him... Dallas replaced him with Zach Thomas, who even at this age is way ahead, light years ahead, of the LB corps that is now in Miami. Keith Davis, sucked as a safety. Where was he picked up? Miami... Hell, Bradie James had to lose how many pounds of where Parcells wanted him? And how much better was he last year than with Parcells...
You make it sound like Parcells should get all the credit for the Dallas turn-around ignoring moves like Leonard Davis and Spencer taken after the fact.
