Billboard...

Myself and some other guys on another message board are seriously talking about trying to get together enough money to rent a billboard in Dallas to protest Jerry Jones. Myself personally will take whatever money I normally would have spent on tickets and merchandise next year and put it towards this venture.

I'm sick of his fake football knowledge, and thinking he knows how to run a football team. The billboard would state something similar. He has to know that a big part of the Cowboys fanbase is tired of this silly rollercoaster he calls a team.

If we can get just 1,000 Cowboy fans to do the same as I and some others want to, we can easily pool the money needed to get such a thing in place.

Anybody interested?

He is, afterall, the owner. Are you sick of him spending his millions on star players to entertain you on sundays? What do you propose, that he fire himself and give the team away to someone so that they will be happy? To us, it is entertainment. To him, it is a business as well...a very profitable one. I'm not sure I see any sense in "protesting" him....unless you just want to part with your money. There is no other owner who goes to the extent he does to TRY to win superbowls....there are no others who spend (maybe Snyder). It hasn't worked recently, but he is the same owner who brought you three superbowls in the 90s.

anybody here get the feeling that the OP works as a sales rep for a billboard company in the Dallas area but me?

and comparing what MLK did to whats going on at Valley Ranch? dude...seriously

but I guess some people lead great lives when their biggest problems are how Jerry runs the Dallas Cowboys.

As for me, I have better things to spend my money on, and waaaaaaaay bigger problems that need my attention. Wish I had the resources to help, but I got bigger fish to fry.

Good luck tho!!!

If you can get one close to VR that Jones will see every day (or close to his home) maybe it would mean a little something. Otherwise I think you are spinning your wheels.

No, it wouldn't do anything.

Put yourself in JJ's mind. Reading that every single day.

For someone like him, all it'll do is make him want to "prove everyone wrong".

IMO it'll cause more harm then good. JJ has to come to the conclusion on his own. A giant billboard filled with truth will only make him get defensive.

Maybe we need a similar fan revolution here, something has to give with this team.

Correct.

This blind following of Jerry is ridiculous.

The idea that he had any impact in bringing us 3 SB's is laughable at best.

Anyway, I'm not going to argue this point. I will simply state that as a fan, I feel I need to do something, anything, to make this ******* realize that as fans we won't just stand by and let him ruin the team that we love.

You all do what you want, but if you keep feeding the machine, it will keep running along at the same pace it has for the last 12 years without a playoff win.

Your call.

Switzer, Gailey, Campo and Wade.

Let it not be said 'no other owner goes to the extent Jerry does to TRY to win superbowls'.

Yes, it's something like that. Not sure on the minimum. 1,000 fans pitching in just 100 bucks each would give us $10,000. I would think that would be enough to get something out there.

Jesus Christ, tell me you won't be in charge of the money...

I think a billboard is just the kind of public display that will irk Jerreh to no end, and yanking Jones' chain with public embarassment is about the only way to get Jones to heel. Kind of like the garbage bags with the cutout holes Jets fans used to wear, and get themselves on TV. It told the story of where the fans were with regard to the franchise.

BTW, I am 99% certain that is a fake Cincy billboard. Looks Photoshop to me.

If you did pull it off, you would get MASSIVE free TV publicity from local radio and news blurbs.

BENGALS FANS BUY BILLBOARDS TO ATTACK OWNERSHIP

Posted by Josh Alper on November 12, 2008, 2:10 p.m. EST

A group of Bengals fans have rented space on four billboards around Cincinnati to plead with the team to make changes to the managerial structure. One of them reads “Dear Bengals, Hire a general manager. Love, your fans.”
The billboard buyers are trying to raise funds to keep the messages up via a website called WhoDeyRevolution.com. They hope to raise $4,500 and are taking donations through the site. It’s the second phase of what they’re calling “Project Mayhem,” whose two stated goals are disrupting the natural order of Mike Brown’s Bengals and reducing Mike Brown’s profits. The first phase was calling the team’s “jerk line,” designed for reporting unruly behavior at Bengal games, and reporting Brown as a jerk.
As you can tell from the billboard, it is Brown’s refusal to bring other voices into the decision-making process they find particularly galling. “18 seasons of Mike Brown making football decisions have led the Bengals to a record of 98-183, the worst winning percentage of all professional sports teams over that stretch,” they write. “Einstein’s famous quote “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” should be framed and put above the door to Mike Brown’s office.”

I got a response from the one billboard company I found in Dallas that will let you pay by the day instead a long term contract.

235 a day is we take it over 20 days.

A month would be about 7K. My 1,000 fan contribution scenario would be more than enough to make it happen.

No, it's real. It's an electronic bb that rotates messages every few seconds.

I'm pretty sure Jesus can handle being in charge of the money, but I'm sure he has better things to do

The billboard needs to be directed right at Jerry and needs to hit him where it hurts, something like:

Hey Jerry, the whole world knows you're not a football guy, when are you going to figure out what a laughing stock you and your Cowboys have become?

13 years and counting.....

We'll be back when there's a real football man in charge again.

Signed,

The fans

I'm sure it is, but I want a direct shot across the bow of JJ's ego, "13 years & counting' doesn't cut it (imo)

It needs to be direct and to the point.

And, it needs to clearly state that we want a real GM.

Funny how the DCC rails this board nonstop, yet comes here when it needs money.

It's not the DCC. It's me. I, as a fan, just as you are, need to do something.

It has nothing at all to to do with msg boards or rivalries or anything like that. It has to do with the future of the team you and I both cheer for on Sundays.
