You could say that about any non-pro bowl free agent.Ehh….I can a guy his caliber in the draft.
No we dontHe is ok but not 23 million good. They will see. We have something brewing.
Cap boy loves cheap laborDoes this mean we get another 5th round draft comp pick? We must lead the league in those.
Stephen did say Steele was ahead of schedule, but let's see. There was no way they were going to pay McGovern that type of contract.
Both are decent playersOffensive Lineman are always in high demand, especially ones who have starting experience and can play multiple positions. Both Conner's got 7 plus extensions.
Not at that priceI guess we don’t like our guys either.
Dude became a pro bowler after making the switch to C.McGovern is solid, I think he may slide to center, like the other Connor we lost.
Tyler Smith is our guard. You could say that about any non-pro bowl free agent.
Bills are going to lose 2 of their 3 guards this offseason so they will most likely do both (sign one and then draft one).
It doesn't have to be either or
It’s ok for them but that’s a salary the Cowboys don’t need for a guy that couldn’t start.Ehh $23M sounds like a lot, but you have to wait to see how the contract is structured.
If I had to guess I’d say it’s something like
2023- $3M signing bonus and $5M cap hit
2024- $7.5M cap hit but only $4M guaranteed
2025- $7.5M cap hit with 0 guaranteed
Not going to complain about losing McGovern, but that’s really not bad for a serviceable starting G that can play C if need be. I know most of this board is in complete denial about it, but contracts are going up across the board in the NFL.
Agree, need to see it to believe it. Although Steele doesn't have an injury history like Gallup did.Didn't they say the same thing about Mike Gallup ?
Our Oline needs to get better, not worse. Tyron may be on the payroll, but he rarely plays. Not bad...you can find serviceable guard somewhere, especially if you just drafted OL with the 1st rounder in 2022 and still have Martin and Tyron on the payroll. Draft a 3rd-5th round guard and let him battle against Farniok for the spot
Couldn’t start where? Are people really believing that Tyron is going to play a significant of games at LT? I’ll set the O/U at 7.5 games and would happily bet the under. It’s ok for them but that’s a salary the Cowboys don’t need for a guy that couldn’t start.
Not saying that but surely you don’t think McGovern wouldn’t start for him?Couldn’t start where? Are people really believing that Tyron is going to play a significant of games at LT? I’ll set the O/U at 7.5 games and would happily bet the under.
I’d hardly call McGovern a hole. Our Oline needs to get better, not worse. Tyron may be on the payroll, but he rarely plays.
We basically have two holes right now on the line. The one where Mcgover was and the one when Tyron gets hurt.
I would. And certainly the fact that he isnt here anymore qualifies as a hole.I’d hardly call McGovern a hole.
