Bills sign Connor McGovern

considering solari was seattles oline coach...i wonder if their f/a og phil haynes will get a look here.

Stephen is popping champagne over the 5th round compensatory pick they will get 400 days from now for McGovern.

He's kind of cheap, so maybe not champagne, and instead he's shotgunning a leftover Coors from the last home game.

Farniok is better.

Last season when Farniok was starting at LG and rookie Tyler Smith was starting at LT, we were running the football much better to their left side than we did the rest of the season with McGovern at LG teamed with rookie Smith at LT.
Yeah, actually like Farniok.

At least he is out of the conference. Dodged a bullet there.

Interesting that the Bills only drafted their tackles, Dion Dawkins 17/2 & Spencer Brown 21/3. The three others are all from other teams. McGovern is replacing 34 year old LG Roger Saffold U/TEN, the center Mitch Morris U/KC, and RG Ryan Bates T/PHI. Even the backups are from other teams with one drafted tackle Tommy Doyle 21/5.

Does this warrant a comp pick? If so, what round potentially?
Depends on Cowboys signings that could cancel it out but it's potentially a 5th round pick similar to Connor Williams last season.

Tyler Smith is our guard.
I was referring to the Bills. They're losing 2 of their 3 guards so I would imagine they plan on signing one (McGovern) and then drafting one.
McGovern is solid, I think he may slide to center, like the other Connor we lost.
Bills actually have a pro bowl center but McGovern does have that flexibility if need be.

Ehh $23M sounds like a lot, but you have to wait to see how the contract is structured.

If I had to guess I’d say it’s something like
2023- $3M signing bonus and $5M cap hit
2024- $7.5M cap hit but only $4M guaranteed
2025- $7.5M cap hit with 0 guaranteed

Not going to complain about losing McGovern, but that’s really not bad for a serviceable starting G that can play C if need be. I know most of this board is in complete denial about it, but contracts are going up across the board in the NFL.
Exactly

Couldn’t start where? Are people really believing that Tyron is going to play a significant of games at LT? I’ll set the O/U at 7.5 games and would happily bet the under.
Know what my friend?

Fair point, but if I’m going to count on Jerry and kid to build a championship roster, I may as well go ahead and figure that Tyron can play a full season as well. I have no other choice beyond blind faith because I can’t leave or quit.

That aside, I AM just a little curious as to what our run game could be with Tyron/Tyler dozing dudes on the left, while Martin and Steele arent exactly a bad act on the right. Need fresh legs, but very doable.

Farniok was not good. I'm not sure what you were seeing. Dude got blown up on the regular
Nah I can’t agree there.

I’ve seen dudes that can’t play….like Phil Costa and Cory Proctor. Even free agents like Livings and Bernadeaux (sorry if I spoiled anyones dinner).

Farinok is much better than those types.

Interesting.

Are gonna run with Farniok at LG until Steele is back and then move Tyler to LG?

I really hope that's not the plan.

My hope is that they draft Anton Harrison to play LT, which allows Tyler to play LG. Meanwhile, with one of our 5s, I want Zavala guard from NC State.

Tyron Smith will play LT and Tyler Smith will move to LG - until Tyron goes down with some kind of injury.
