Blame Payton/Zimmer Coaches thread

He's been notoriuous for this his entire career as DC in Dallas.
Dallas almost blew it last week and have succeeded in doing so this week.
Still can't believe Purcells kept this guy when the Campo circus was forced out of town.

Couldn't agree more. Horrible play-calling. Horrible coaching. The players deserved better tonight.

we lost the game because we just got way too conservative. I know we all want to blame Payton but we watched the game and Bill was in his ear the whole way

And how do you know that? A little birdie told you?

Please. Payton called every play.

I agree 100%...6 yrs of this same melt down in the 4th quarter garbage...we've changed over tons of players, changed schemes and added different position coaches left and right, but Zimmer is the one constant...and so are the results

the flat out blows when he has to coach with a lead...

only thing worse than Payton was Zimmer...at least Payton has only scrwed up one game...Zimmer has been coordinating defenses that have blown 2nd half leads for years

How in the world can you leave Roy blameless? He was the deep safety on Moss's side of the field on BOTH PLAYS. What color goggles are you wearing?

Up until that we had 5 sacks and 2 turnovers. Sounds like a good defensive outing to me.

Roy is a liability in coverage, period.

Between me and HollywoodHenderson we are the 2 biggest Zimmer haters here.

But sorry I can not blame any of this on Zimmer. We got sacks and turnovers. A little more pressure on Brunell woulda been nice. But any time a Defense holds the other team to 14 points.....well the D did their job thats all I gotta say.

Well there's several of us now who see that this has been a pattern with Zimmer forever. People kept blaming it on the lack of talent but that isn't a valid excuse anymore.

Zimmer sucks, plain and simple and Parcells was an idiot for keeping him. Parcells has also made a bonehead move by keeping Payton as the OC. The guy has no imagination and just like Zimmer, plays not to lose, which of course means that you are guaranteed to do just that.

I love Parcells as the HC but his choices for assistants is questionable at best.

You are 100% correct. He is the only constant in this foul equation.

not when you see a garbage offensive team convert 3rd and 27 and 4th and 15 on your field

it aint questionable...he just picked a bunch of losers

There's no way you can blame Zimmer without blaming Roy first. TWO DEEP TDS to his side of the field in 4 minutes! He was out of position on each play. Hey Roy, quit show boating after EVERY hit and LEARN HOW TO PLAY DEEP.

Agree Zimmer is not to blame. If anyone should take the fall it's going to be RW. He got inside coverage on both plays and simply got out ran by Moss. Players lost this game not Zimmer. He go the team to hold Skins to no point until the RW and Glenn gave up 14 points

I would agree with you if this was NCAA football.
In the NFL every team has the talent to score at any given time on the field. Coaches must coach to the end of the game as much as players must play to the final whistle, regadless of score.
Bottom line, Zimmer gets outcoached by the opposing OC everytime it counts in the 4th.

You don't think that Aaron Glenn had anything to do with this do you? I mean he was 20 yards away from the receiver he should have been covering. Roy had to drop off the other receiver to help Glenn.....he just got there too late.

You are correct. Our boys were in position to put it away all night. They were held back by our coaches, not the Commanders.

Right, Zimmer was on the field so Brunnell can run for 25 yds on 3 and 27. Zimmer also told Roy and Glenn to let Moss split them down the middle (twice). Oh, he told the DL to hold off the passrush and give Brunnell some time to catch his breath. Give me a break. Players lost this game...that includes the kicker.

You guys are clueless. Obviously you don't know strategy.

You're blaming Zimmer/ Rw/ AG/ you should blame Bill Parcells for putting Newman in the slot.

Let's do the math. Moss runs a 4.3 + Glenn runs a 4.5 + Newman runs a 4.3 = Newman in coverage.

BP is out coaching himself when he continuously slap Newman in the slot, especially when they are playing a prevent 2 deep.

RW's job is to not give them the first. The first down was only 14 yards away, so if he gives up the intermediate route which is run around 13 to 15 yards, then you will call for RW's head.

His responsibility on 4th down, is to take away the middle pass which could be an easy first down.

The cornerbacks are supposed to keep the receivers from getting deep. Glenn did what he could, but he shouldn't have been put in that position. So here's to Bill Parcells thinking he's smarter than what actually works.
