Bingo. This was entirely predictable. Tyron hasn't played a full season since Zeke and Dak were in college. Yet, our front office once again spent the offseason with their collective heads in the sand. The entirety of their swing tackle plan was spending a 5th round pick on some guy named Walesko. Thats it. That was the plan. Good luck Dak!
I am genuinely concerned for Dak's health.
He should qualify for hazardous duty pay.

Yup. Shoulda traded him a couple years ago when Seattle and houston were desperate and throwing first round picks around for LTs. I was told I was crazy for wanting to unload a guy like him with such a team friendly contract. Jerry never learned one thing over the last 30 years about being proactive In building a franchise.
We do reactive
We don’t do proactive

Well I won't come here to say I told ya so or anything....it's too bad nobody but the fans of this team for the last 3 decades didn't see this coming. It's great that Dak, Zeke and others on the O are in the best shape of their lives as well. Good times.
Yep, Tyrone's injury came out of left field.
Who would've thought this might happen????

Stephen doesn't listen to comment board clowns. He could care less what anyone here or anyone in the media has to say. They are Pros and we are Joes.

I think you meant "They are owners and we are Joes."

Pros are teams that win in the playoffs.

They won the division and that's enough for Jerry to keep fans in the stands and the team busting the 8billion dollar value. Business success seems to be enough for Jerry.

You are correct, business success is way more important to Jerry and his offspring than actually competing for championships.

You want proof? The team has not advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs in 26 seasons, but the value of the franchise has increased exponentially over this same time span.

This did not happen just by accident, some fans dont want to accept that winning rings is just not that important to Jerry compared with making money. All Jerry has to do is make sure the team is just competitive enough to keep the fans showing up to the stadium so he can sell more marketing rights.

Ummmm....yeah, but what does that have to do w/ their competency as FO's in the NFL?

The primary function of a FO with Jerry & Stephen is to make money. They are highly successful at the primary directive.

We have been clamouring for months for Dallas to get a dependable swing tackle. Back then there were several that we could have had that could have stepped in if needed.

Now that there are hardly any good swing tackles available we are in a quagmire going in starting the season.

It's beyond me why the FO didn't get a swing tackle when they had the chance. Goes to show how their lack of football IQ and their drive to win. That's a shame to us fans.

Cant agree with that. As with Dak no replacement (Swing Tackle) was going to be able to replace Tyron....especially and here's the big bit, especially when players such as Eric Fisher WASNT going to sign with us to be a bench Swing Tackle and if he was he'd want astronomical additional money.

If and this is a guess, he wants to start and with a team with a chance (which is supported by the 9 offers he's turned down), then he'd want to be the no.1.

He's going to probably demand upto $10m....BUT HE ALWAYS WAS, there was no cheap alternative.

Can argue that the FO got it wrong and that Tyron's injury was predictable, but there was no fail safe alternative....at least what they've done is kept back the $21m CAP FOR THIS VERY EVENTUALITY.

The front office has always been reactive and doesn't seem capable of being proactive....and that's a big part of why they fail each year.

well, on the other hand we saved 10M on the cap and into Jerry and Stephen's pocket by not spending it.....ha...8B franchise doesn't happen by accident.

Obviously. However, they are complete numskulls at the football aspect of it. There are several "Joes" right here on this board that would make better NFL GM's.

Incorrect. The money not spent gets rolled into next season, a very wise move. And that from an FO who makes very few moves that are even remotely competent.

So many posts about what the FO should & shouldn't do. Always easier looking in from the outside. This injury, like others, has nothing to do w/the FO. If that were the case, 31 other teams FO are guilty as well.

No one has a crystal ball. It's just rolling the dice.

Incorrect. Not every FO ignores injury history and a player's age and decline.

Could be but, remember the primary directive. 8 billion and counting. Who cares about football. Jerry only cares about Joes if they buy tickets and jerseys.

Anyone else want to come on and tell us how Tyron isn't an injury risk and we don't need to prepare for him missing games? It's like clockwork and there was no chance he was playing 17 games. None. Shame on this team for not being prepared for him missing time. Some teams are prepared for all scenarios. We just react as if we are shocked things don't happen exactly the way we hoped
Missing a few games and going down for the year in a half padded practice are two different things.

Nobody cares that you think you are so smart bc our All Pro LT got hurt.

That's Daddy & Son's mentality. History of injury? Can't seem to get it done during the regular season? Nah! He's never looked better in camp!! Smith is gone, Lee very likely will be sooner rather than later, and we do nothing to safeguard. Even if there were quality LTs out there right now, we would do nothing, instead just talking about how confident we are that someone can step up (because that always happens with our great depth) and focusing on just "being competitive" until the injured player returns, which the team is always "hopeful" of around Thanksgiving...or sometime in late December. And some people still think we have casual fans.

Note: I just posted this same response in the FO confidence thread……..

“Look I will be the first to state that I am not an NFL professional. I do not have any experience in the NFL, rather it’s player, coach, scout or front office, but what I do know is that if you want to be successful in anything, you have to be totally all in. With that said, there is no way in *e** that this team should have 21 million dollars in cap space when it has needs.

That is all!”
