Blaming Kiffin makes no sense

No defensive coordinator in the history of football could stop the Saints offense without SEVEN projected starters on the field. Get real.

Sometimes in football, a crazy rash of injuries make it virtually impossible to succeed no matter how good the coaching. This is one of those times.

It's hilarious how some people are crying about the Rob Ryan firing now.

Remember how bad his D was last year after the absurd rash of injuries? Now that Kiffin's dealing with the same thing (if not worse), we want HIM gone? Even though you regret not giving Rob the same leeway?

Then there's the reality that Kiffin's trying to implement a new scheme, on top of all the injuries. Those aren't excuses, those are facts.

Sorry, you can't have it both ways. Either Rob AND Kiffin should get free passes for having to deal with an ungodly number of injuries, or neither of them should get the pass. Don't be inconsistent now just because you're emotional.

Now Kiffin will probably be gone after this year and many of you will be cheering when it happens. Just remember how you were also cheering last year when Rob got the axe. Funny how his D is doing great now in New Orleans since he's starting players who were actually projected to be starting.

I don't know what the answers are as I don't know if anything can be done about our horrific luck recently with defensive injuries. Some have suggested that the training staff is to blame and maybe there's something to that... or maybe there's nothing to that since none of us know nearly enough about our training regimen compared to that of other teams.

Bye week couldn't have come at a better time. The good news is we're still in 1st place (thanks to tiebreakers) and we have a chance to get Lee, Durant, Claiborne and Wilcox back before the end of the year. Then we'll see if Kiffin's unit can step up.

He gave up how many yards to Sheli on opening night basically healthy even with 6 turnovers? Injuries are a problem, but they are not the only problem.

Cowboy fans know nothing about football that's why they blame Kiffin. Said it before and will continue. Saints defense sucks too but there offense bails them out. They couldn't even expose Geno Smith. Rob the great. Whatever

Were they ever dead last, last season? Honest question.

And the two of the four that 'may' come back really aren't that much help.

Spencer was hurt and we had Hayden starting. Mo played hurt as well and was the main culprit/target. But your version sounds better I guess.

Your right. It all injuries. Sadly, Rob Ryan didn't get the benefit of that doubt last year.

Jimmy's and Joe's not X's and O's if you ask me. But Kiffin has not added much.

sure you can blame him partially anyway.

His scheme doesnt put players in positions to make plays in todays pass happy game. We knew this coming in cos his D has sucked since 2008 but we(JJ and JG) thought moving back to the 4-3 would cure all our ills.

It hasnt and quite frankly the scheme is embarassing. I've seen less gaps in a rednecks tooth line.

I agree. It's a talent problem. The Cowboys' don't have much. Most fans don't want to admit that.

But moving to the 4-3 was a step back. It accomplished absolutely nothing.

Rob was a loud mouth who flopped and couldn't back up his talk. If you're getting whupped on weekly keep your mouth shut. Saints aren't going anywhere with Rob Ryan.

If we kept the 3-4 what would be improved? Ware/spencer still hurt. Hatcher still a good but not very good player. Carter would be the only difference but result is the same. I still think its easier to find 4-3 players. If offseason/draft isn't dedicated to the dline/oline so help me god

Regardless of injuries this D is on track to possibly be one of the poorest units in the history of the NFL. Ever. Let that sink in for a while.

I think any defensive coordinator would struggle with the mess Jerry has assembled. That said, i still think Kiffen’s scheme is putrid. The middle of the field is always open. The blitzes are outdated. It doesn’t hide the holes in the defense, only exposes them. The fact he hides up in the booth is lame.

Honestly, your just making excuses for the horrible play of this unit.

Our CBs and safeties would be alot better in Ryan's system, and while we would still be injured in the front 7, our personnel was still better suited for that system. It takes time to adjust to a new system, time that we didn't have.

All we did was waste another season cause we wanted to cover our awful finish last year with a huge scheme change.

What team is doing better on defense that fields a worse d line than Dallas? Please tell me what Kiffin can do. Make Hayden into Sapp? Turn Ware back to 2010 Ware? Make Selvie get more than two good plays per game? Cry baby *** fans. People think Rob is good now. I hope Kiffin goes to Washington next year to see the backtracking on him as well.
