I see a lot of people saying Garrett, Weeden are to blame for the loss??? Dude, Garrett is playing with 2nd stringers across the board at this point. 2nd stringers in N.O. in a must win primetime game. Good luck. He's got a rookie LB defending CJ Spiller on a wheel route, 1 on 1. Weeded didn't throw picks and had a game tying drive. I don't get it. I know we're all pissed. But man. Blame the injuries. Plain and simple. That's all this is. It's SO bad, that we may not win until we get players back. Do people just not feel blaming injuries incapsulates things enough? You CAN'T blame injuries when we go into Philly and we're missing just Dez. You CAN totally blame injuries when by the 4th quarter of the Saints game we're missing:

Dunbar
Lee
Butler
Dez
Romo
McClain
Hardy
Gregory
Other McClain
Scandrick

It's the worst I've felt about a season in my life....So, I get the frustration. But we were supposed to be a pass rusher away and catch away from competing in the NFC championship game last year. There's no way our coaching and players individually got HORRIBLE as many people are saying in an offseason. This is when football sucks, guys. It'll be hard to stomach N.E. next week if we lose, especially if we lose how I think we will, which is fighting and clawing like we have been and losing by a few. Here's hoping we get players back really soon. Feel so bad for Witten.

i blame marinelli and his outdated scheme that a high school coach could attack

One of the things I continue to wonder about is the fact that everywhere the Lovie Smith / Marinelli scheme has worked, it has had very good to great zone CBs.

Neither Claiborne or Carr fit that mold.

I think it's a problem.

IMHO, Marinelli is much better DL coach that defensive coordinator.

Again, just because you have 2nd stringers doesn't mean you can't still see coaching gaffes.

Not calling timeout in OT when you saw that play unfolding? That's a coaching mistake. 12 men on the field on a punt that ends up costing them 3 points? That's a discipline issue that starts with the coaching staff. This team makes way too many fundamental mistakes and errors that have NOTHING to do with the talent. And let's look at the most talented group - the OL. They are making tons of mistakes. Talent isn't the issue there. But they are making dumb mistakes and fundamental mistakes.

That's coaching.

If we're going to blame injuries for a loss against a 0 and 3 team, then we have built in injury excuses to lose every game until Romo comes back. The loss isn't solely on Weeden and Garrett, but this notion floating around that the offense played decently enough is false. We score an easy touchdown or two to start the game, but as soon as teams realize all they have to do is take away the short stuff by limiting Witten, they can clog the running lanes and our whole offense disappears for the second half. That is because Weeden is not accurate going down the field and because our coaches don't show any creativity on offense. I also have a feeling a lot of the offensive woes are due to the coaching staff, because we play the exact same way with Romo in, by 'hanging around' teams, and then unleashing the offense when we get behind. Look at the NY game... same thing with Philly

If you want Weeden to adjust at the line well enough to defenses changing, get Peyton Manning.
If you want him to be able to scramble, never let Romo get hurt or get Rodgers
If you want him to have accuracy that's second to none...get Luck.
If you want him to be composed beyond belief and have an amazing big game record... Trade the draft for Brady.

My point is...Weeden is Weeden. He's playing at the top of his ability. He had a long throw to Butler and got one to Williams to tie the game up on the last drive. What more do you guys want from this guy? I'm not saying he's amazing. I'd rather have Romo at 85% than Weeden.

I hear you. There were some coaching mistakes. Should've called timeout for sure. I'm DEFINITELY not happy with Oline. Those guys are a joke after the first two drives. They REALLY need to start to know Weeden better or to play to their ability. Those guys are killing us on offense right now. They're spoiled with Romo and it's evident.

No scheme works when you're missing your starting DE's and two starting LB's.

All day. Dude has NO players. Just like last year, bringing in guys from different teams playing for a different defense in a week. From practice squads, mind you.

Simply put NO was 6-13 on third downs and converted several third and longs, that cant happen. Also another game with no turn overs forced. Just like 28 points should have beaten Atlanta, 20 should have beat NO.

I think the current CB play is not the problem with the defense.

The reason this team hasn't played well since the Philly game can be blamed on a critter, rather than a person. That "critter" is called the "injury bug". For some, though, it just makes them feel better to point a finger at "someone" rather than "something".

Exactly. Nobody here is saying the injuries aren't a huge factor. I have no doubt we'd be 4-0 with the same coaches at full strength personnel.

But that's still no excuse for bad scheming, dumb mistakes, and poor game management. Those are all on the coaching staff.

Garrett and Linehan are partally to blame due to the inept offensive scheme they've employed the past two games. Yes, they are short handed. It's footbll. It happens. They are stupid for continuing to allow defenses to stack the box by not presenting any semblence of an intermediate to deep threat. It took them till the last four minutes of the game (when they were forced to) to adjust and throw past ten yards. This isn't rocket science. They can't call an offensive game that makes it so easy for a defense to defend.

Yup the injury and suspensions are hurting right now. That's why we have captains and we are sorely missing them right now. If only Bailey could rally the guys up... I think it'll light a fire. Tell them get it to at least the 30 and it's automatic. That's the only part of our team I have any faith in right now.

You also apparently want to conveniently forget about all the good things he did too, like being 3rd in the league in yards per attempt, 1st in completion percentage, leading a 91 yard game tying drive in one of the loudest stadiums in the league, and throwing the tying TD pass on fourth down. Maybe you were just drunk during the game, that would explain your stupid expectations of needing the backup to play like Aaron Rodgers with practice squad receivers.

Stupid expectations? lol. Weeden is going to hurt this team worse than injury or any other issue moving forward. I don't think it's a lot to expect a QB to to be able to do what I said. As you are calling out the all the great things he did, please keep in mind that it was Defense that a lot of rookies playing. We play a D like the Broncos and Weeden leaves in a body bag because he can't step up or slide in the pocket. It's like watching Drew Bledsoe all over again in his final half before Romo took over. But never mind me, let's just send Weeden to the HoF because he basically played a college level D.
