Bland should start in the slot

Brown is out of contract at the end of the year and likely to get a big contract we might not be able to afford. So it’s good to see Bland show a bit, maybe even enough to hope he’s ready to start next season. He’s gone past Wright and Joseph but IMO has a ways to go to challenge Lewis and a country mile to get near Brown.

I rate Brown highly though, I think he’s a 10-15m cornerback with a bad contract.

Everyone talking about slowing your roll on so and so player.

People are so afraid of believing in what is obvious with a player, because they're done this before and been wrong.

I find it silly and egotistical, because people need to protect their egos from being wrong. And play hero to protect others from being wrong. It's toxic, really. Repressive.

The way I see it, if you're wrong, you're wrong. No big deal. But if what you think you see is really what you think you see, then it could have a bigger benefit than "just wait and see" on so and so.

That kind of mentality is a loser mentality. Fear of being wrong, is fear of losing. People who are afraid to lose, rarely ever win.

Bland will get some playing time. Corner is the toughest defensive position for a rookie, nothing wrong with him watching the vets and being eased in. Its not a loser mentality, its player development.

I started this thread and I am certainly not going to complain about Tyler Smith starting at left tackle. I'm not going to complain about anything. I'm probably the most excited fan on here about where we are today.
Well damn we need you here with all the pessimists here…

What are you talking about? It’s not fear of being wrong, it’s learning from experience and not reading too much into beating scrubs in three pre-season games.

From all reports he was clearly 4th best corner in training camp and while he will no doubt rapidly improve, he’s not taken the job yet.

I agree with don’t rush it. The only sure thing is Diggs as the CB1. Brown and Lewis are solid. Doesn’t mean you can’t do better, but you can do a lot worse. Joseph will have his chance to beat out Brown for CB2, and Bland to beat out Lewis for SCB. I can see Bland happening this season. I can’t see Joseph happening.

i really want Brown in the slot ..and come up with an idea No. 2 opposite Diggs, ..but that's in limbo right now.
Imo, Brown handles the slot coverage better than Lewis

- And Lewis cannot handle speed and his coverage can be too up and down too.

- Wright is too tall and leggy and cut upright to be a slot guy, ..he's purely an outside CB...and still one that
seems to have issues turning upfield and adjusting in coverage.

- He may be another that's a forward only player. so long as the WR is in front of him.

- i think Joseph will be carried on the 53 roster just for the sake of his 2nd round draft status.
He may be still quite distracted with the off field issues and possible personal conduct suspension from Goodell and the NFL.

- But i still haven't seen anything from him that's impressed me and think he's gonna be a difference making player.
Thus far he seems like just a JAG.

I want Brown and Diggs on the islands with Lewis in the slot and Bland Wright and last Joseph as depth . Just as i thought in camp no one was going to beat out Brown.

You’re lost. It’s about being realistic and 5th round rookie cbs don’t come right in and contribute on the level of a Jourdan Lewis. The guy played well against practice squad players and now people are in “fear” of being wrong. Please. He’s a Cowboy. We all hope he continues to progress but he shouldn’t have to be thrown to the wolves to boost your ego.

I don’t know what that poster was talking about. Just a very bizarre post.

I admit Bland has looked good but the starting CBs are Diggs, Lewis and Brown. Bland will get his reps, probably at the expense of Wright and Joseph. But there is no way they start him over the 3 guys from last season. It will be interesting to see who get the start if Lewis is unable to play week 1.

Lewis is nursing a hamstring.

May not be 100% for 1st game.

He is a player.
He has some skill, but until he consistently looks for the ball as well as he tracks the player he will be a flag fest against good QB's. Coachable, and looking forward to seeing him grow.

Yeah, start the 5th round rookie vs Tom Brady. C'mon man slow it down a little bit.

Bland should be that 4th or 5th guy and work in sub packages. Let's not expose him too much too soon.
