Maybe discussed-

I heard Parcells thought Merriman would be better right away but in the long run Ware would be all time. He said that initially he was thinking Merriman, but met him at the combine and didnt like him, thought he was a "jerk".

I find stuff like that interesting. Like last year in the war room,
there seemed to be at least a little discussion going on, and finally Jerry blurts out "Lets go Jones, Felix Jones"

....or when it was revealed we had Brian Westbrook off our draft board :(

If healthy its one of those you cant go wrong with either. Merriman had 17 sacks in 12 games while Ware had 20 in 16. I know Merriman was juicing at some point but even without it he still proved he could rush the passer. His knee injury looks bad.

What I want to see from Ware is to master one more move besides the speed rush. Do not be suprised if Ware goes from 20 sacks to 10 this year. Reason why I say this he will even be more of a target than ever. If Greg Ellis is let go theres nobody coming from the other end that scares other teams. I know Spencer has potential but needs to put it together.

That's why BP wanted to draft Spears with that pick. Ware was JJ's baby.

I was really excited about Merriman when he was coming out. He looked like he was going to be a stud. Of course, anyone looks good when they are cheating.

Can't say that I am upset at how things turned out.

Ware is the best defensive player in the NFL. There isn't another player that I would take over Ware. Ed Reed deserves consideration but going on 31 to start the year is a huge deciding factor. Ware is gonna be 27 and has some room to grow.

Like you mentioned, Ware could add to his moves and be even more godly.

As far as dropping off in production. Can't see it. He isn't James Harrison. He didn't just pop up from nowhere. He had a sack in all but two games. You don't just rattle off some crazy consecutive game streak and not get attention. As far as whos opposite him, Greg's presence was spotty. Ware got the most help from the guys in the middle. Ratliff and Bradie were consistantly holding their own.

Another 20 sack season? Might be a little much. They don't happen often. I think he gets 15 or 16. 10 is far too low. He is too good.

Kinda off topic BUT...

It really bothers me when a lot of fans are so hard and act so disappointed with our current players, but at the same time feel so much pride when a player like Bob Hayes finally gets into the HOF.

Sure our players are going to have rough times, but their OUR players on our team!

Why be so critical of every little thing when its quite possible years from now were going to be tearing up when guys like Ware, Witten possibly Romo are getting inducted in the ring of honor or HOF.

Have some pride! We got a great group of players on this TEAM!

sorry to derail this thread.

How can you not be disappointed with this current squad? Ignoring that they have underacheived for about 3 years does not make you a better fan than those who vent their frustrations.

Never said it did make me a better fan, just venting my frustrations that about 95% of what is said about our players is negative. And I wont deny that they have underachieved, but it gets old hearing "cut this guy" or "trade him and draft his replacement" when a player commits an error.

IMO I think fantasy football and madden have created false expectations in the NFL that just cant always be accomplished. Real guys screw up, but from what ive seen their attitudes seem to be moving in the right direction, and hopefully winning football games follows soon.

Anyways it was way off topic and im just tired of hearing nothing but negative opinions about players on the team we all root for.
Plus im drunk and I apologize.

Cheers for us having DWare.

I'll say what I say what I said before about both of them. Both are very good players and are important parts for their respective teams. I'm glad we have Ware and hope he is with us for a long time but Merriman is also a quality player who is a big impact player for the Chargers and SD defense was hurting without him.

would have been nice to get Merriman in the Spears pick.

If were doing wouldas, Bobby C would be a good starting point. Shouldn't take much to outdo that turd.

Ware was the better choice all around and I remember a lot of moaning and groaning around here when Lights out went on his juice streak. Where are they now? Buying Demarcus Ware jerseys I bet...:D

Like I said ..... notice its the same people in those threads that jump to conclusions now.

The reactionary squad ...... and they make the same "blind homer" and "silver and blue glasses" remarks.
