Adam already covered the "going for 2" stuff - that was the right call, IMHO. And I would argue that going for the TD instead of the FG was the right call too, that close to the end zone. I don't care at all what Mike Tirico thinks - my guess is that the odds favor going for it there, because you can't count on getting down that close twice more.

When it's late in the game, you go for two the first time you have a chance. You HAVE to know whether you were successful in converting, because you can manage the rest of the game.
If you fail to convert in the middle of the fourth quarter, you know you need two more touchdowns, and you won't waste one of your possessions kicking a field goal.
If you kick the PAT, kick a field goal on your next possession to pull within eight, then fail to convert after scoring a TD in the final seconds, it's probably too late to get yet another possession. You essentially wasted a possession kicking a field goal, and you'll probably lose because of it.

But its also a moot point because instead of taking 3 points we went for it on 4th down, yet another colossally ignorant coaching decision.

Now, on the flipside of that, I think it was either Aikman or Steve Young that said that kicking field goals is just one more step to losing a game.
I have no idea what would have happened, but I would have thought yoi get points anyway you can get them if the chance is there.
