Bledsoe & T.O communication behind the low numbers

I was listening to the ranch report from Wednesday (I'm behind) and he was talking about the film of the interception where Bledsoe underthrew T.O. near the endzone. He basically said that T.O. had changed gears and took off to get as open as he was after the ball was in the air. That Bledsoe threw a good pass, but TO took off and when he looked back for the ball, it was behind him. I think it's pretty plausible, I don't have the coach's film obviously to verify it but sounds to me like a simple communication/experience problem between them. Hopefully the more they practice/play together, Bledsoe will be able to "read" TO's movements like McNabb used to do.

The problem with this team is not offense. We're 3rd in the NFL in points scored. The problem with the Eagles game is a muffed punt and a rookie free safety that combined to give them 4 easy touchdowns. When you spot a good team on the road 28 points you're going to lose. Period. It's a credit to the offense that we were ever in the game. Most other teams in the NFL would have been blown out after giftwrapping the Eagles 28 points.

Go look at the play again, despite whatever is being said, that pass looked like a punt and looks nothing like a pass an NFL QB would ever mean to throw.

What happened I don't know.

Whether the pass itself looks bad is one thing.

However if you also go back and look you will see owens starting off the line like he should and slow down almost like a stutter step that also slows down the DB. Than owens hits a burst and goes past the DB.

So even if the pass was a laser bullet, at the time it was thrown it was being thrown to the spot bledsoe thought TO was going to be when he slowed down.

No matter how anyone plays it...bad throw or bad route it still comes down to lack of knowing each other enough, through practice/repetition, to be on the same page IMO.

I can't see that pass ever being what was supposed to be thrown.

It almost looked like he tried to pull up or something.

Even if Owens doesn't hesitate, the pass looked similar to a punt, and at best it would have been a jump-ball.

(don't all WR's do a hesitation move to try to get seperation or to get the corner to pause so they can run past them or cut off of that hesitaion move ??)

Some have that in the called routes.

Some Freelance those moves.

However for those that freelance those moves it is normally something the QB has seen in games with that player, in otherwords they know each other well enough to be on the same page.

I think it is a case of Bledsoe not knowing TO's habits enough.

Another explanation of why the pass looked funky is if Bledsoe was in the act of throwing the ball when TO had slowed down, maybe as his arm was going forward he seen TO hit that other gear and Bledsoe may have been trying to pull back on the pass to reload and throw again. Just a possiblity.

Whatever the case even Troy said that was a funky route when he saw TO in the replay.

I agree but also look at the rout it is hard to know where TO is going. I agree Bledsoe was unsure and in this case would have been better served just throwing it away instead of throwing into doubt.

It is understandable that they need more time together.

But how often do you see a WR running behind the defense towards the EZ and the ball is thrown up high in the air 5 yds behind where the WR can even stop and get to.

Come on.

If a reciever drops a pass, we say he dropped it.

If a QB throws a bad pass, we say he threw a bad pass.

Why is that so hard after watching that play?

I understand on the last INT that perhaps that was a case where the reciever and the QB were on the wrong page because that was a good pass but just in the wrong direction.

The one in question was not a good pass.

There were 3 eagles on the play, 2 TO got by and one over the top. yes there was room to drop the ball in and it was poorly thown but by the same token the routs was very poorly ran as well. I don't think Bledsoe knew what the heck TO was doing and if that is the case then Bledsoe should have thrown it away. No doubt it was Bledsoe mistake because if your not sure then take the safe bet and throw it away.

I agree those things are important. Just as important IMO is that the offense not turn the ball over. The fumble by Bledsoe and interceptions were also huge plays in the game.

It's a terrible idea to throw a short hail mary pass (a jump ball) in the middle of the field (ie close to CBs, LBers, & safeties) that isn't with time running out and NOT in the end zone. I don't care what anyone says, that was a horrible throw and a HUGE mistake. I don't care of TO was 7'5, you NEVER make that throw!

I'm not sure. Bledsoe was on the right hash and in front of him was a defender who was driving Columbo back towards Bledsoe. It looks like Bledsoe rainbowed the pass, as if he may have been underthrowing it on purpose. But really, he had to rainbow it because the defender had his hands up. And had Bledsoe not rainbowed the pass over the defender's reach, the ball would had been batted down if Bledsoe tried to sling it deeper.

I really think Bledsoe intended to throw it deeper, but the defensive pressure forced him to shorten the throw. TO just could not adjust because he wend into another gear. So basically, I think the defense had more to do with disrupting that play than any miscommunication between QB and WR.

I beg to differ.

If your offense is scoring point for the opposition then THAT IS a problem.

If we didnt turn the ball over so much they wouldnt have had so many shots at our defense. Come on.

If he wanted to throw it away(sort of)... he could have thrown it towards the pile on... the only one who would have gotten it was TO... if TO didnt get it then it probably falls to the ground.... anyhooo

We don't know that, Safety was over the top on the play. My point is if your unsure as it appeared Bledsoe was on that play then throwing it away and coming back on the next play is not a bad ideal.
