Bledsoe is a goner after this year... so

Suffice to say that the NFL is filled with prima donas.
Over-the-hill guys like Favre (Mr. INTs) and Plummer (Mr. Rookie Mistakes) and Bledsoe (Mr. Slow) who all want to start or just wait at home.
And then there are the rookies who know it all and want to start immediately.

For the record, I didn't say a Simms deal wouldl happen nor that it was a good idea. Even probable on his part. I only said Jerra is crazy enough to pursue such a deal. But I imagine he'd see some marketing value in it re the Longhorn fans.

And there is NO DOUBT we'll need some QB help when Bledsoe takes a powder after this season.

Charlie Batch, anyone? Brunnell anyone? A.J. Feeley, anyone? Jerra will be wheeling and dealing this offseason. LOL

I think Jake Plummer would be a good option, as I doubt he gets a starting gig anywhere else and than drafting a QB with upside somewhere in the late rounds.

Just say no to Chris Simms. Please, God, NO. Athleticaly, he is everything an NFL team would want at quarterback. Mentally, he doesn't have it, and never will.

add to that, that Simms gets alot of his passes tipped or knocked down at the line. more than any other QB ive seen.:starspin

I think Simms goes to Oakland, he likes to throw the deep ball, and that would give him a fresh start. Everyone is all over Bruce (not sure why, he shows promise, but so did Simms at the end of last year)

I'm sure there will be quite a few backups in FA that we can pick up and then draft one late or see what Matt Baker is about.

Henson or Brooks. Maybe even David Carr if he is released, although he'd find a starting job. Always wondered what Pennington could do here, but he's probably a lock in New York.

Henson? The same guy who we already cut AS A 3rd TEAMER?

Carr? The same guy who got a massive contract extension from Houston in the offseason? (Why not go after Carson Palmer "IF" he's released?)

Pennington? The same guy who already has a STARTING gig elsewhere?

Strange choices ..........

reading is our friend

how many players have we cut, then brought back? Different situations call for different decisions.

How many players have been cut after getting big contracts, its called being overpaid. And houston might decide they just want to start with that other qb.

pennington signed a 1 year deal right, correct me if im wrong. Don't know how happy their situation is making everyone.

Understanding what you read is the key ......

Henson didn't cut it here as a 3rd TEAMER - why would you think we would suddenly be happy with him as our primary backup? Sure others get cut and resigned, but we didn't resign Kincade to leapfrog into the No. 2 RB role and be one step away from being our primary RB. Besides, this is QB - we don't resign guys to be one step away from leading the team at it's most important position when that guy wasn't even good enough to stick with your team - OR ANY OTHER TEAM - as a 3rd teamer.

Regarding Carr, name me ONE young, top draft pick, franchise QB that received a massive contract extension and got cut the next year ....... especially after having his best season to date and with the team showing signs of improvement. Why would you think Houston would suddenly scrap that and start over with someone new and unproven? Hell, even IF Carr got cut (a virtually impossibility) he could get another starting job ......

Pennington's job may be on somewhat shaky ground, but what makes you think he would prefer signing on as a backup rather than play where he can compete to be the starter? That doesn't make one bit of sense from a financial, competative or ego standpoint.

NONE of your scenarios make any sense.

Yes, by all means, draft a QB.
But for the near future (at that time) we also need a FA quarterback.
Someone who has tasted the blood sweat and tears of the NFL.
One from the draft, one from FA as backups.
Unless (god forbid) Romo goes down, I think we done found our QB of the future.

I would be shocked if Bledsoe came back to Dallas. I take him at his word that he isn't interested in being a backup.

I could see him being a backup somewhere, but only if he loses out in a legitimate QB competition. Even then, I'm not sure he would stick around after preseason if the job were given to the other guy at that point.

Most of the other guys you named will be looking to start somewhere, or at least go to a team where they are given a true shot to win the starting job. If Romo continues to play as well as he has that shot won't be available. Brunnell and Warner may want to hang around and earn a paycheck, but who knows.

Drew Bledsoe as back-up and QB coach. It solves a lot of problems.

Anyone know any contract info on Sage Rosenfels? He looked very good in the playing time he got with Houston this year and would be a perfect option.

Whoever said Leftwich will be an FA is lunching hard

His replacement is 6-2 as a starter and gives the O more options,, more mobile. Leftwich and Del Rio don't seem to be on the same page right now.. I can see him being released at the end of the year.

Now His back up did throw 4 picks last week,, if he keeps doing that.. I could be wrong here.. but I think Leftwich is released at the end of the year.

Drew doesn't want to work with the guy that took his job and he has said that if he can't start he will go home and play with his kids. I think he means it.
