Hate is a strong word, but I believe Randy Moss has strong feelings against the Dallas Cowboys. There is a reason why he has his biggest games against them.
Remember back in '98. He was one of the top prospects coming out, and by far the best receiver in the draft. He should have been a top 5 pick, but there were 19 teams that passed him up. One of those teams was the Cowboys. They had the 8th pick in that draft. They took Greg Ellis, who still plays for them, and will play Sunday against Moss's Patriots.
Yet, at that time, the Cowboys had Aikman and they had Emmitt and they had Irvin. The Cowboys were one of those teams that was really fiddling with the option of taking Moss. They no longer had the solid 2nd receiver that Alvin Harper had been for them. The fans wanted Moss. Moss wanted the Cowboys.
Moss stated after the draft that he was upset with the Cowboys. Out of those teams that talked with him, he said the Cowboys promised to take him if he was available, and he was available. They took Ellis instead though.
If you look back, one of the big reasons the Cowboys didn't select him was because of his off field problems. At that time, the Cowboys were trying to clean their locker room of troubled players. Selecting Moss would have gone against that goal.
It was done though. Moss was selected by the Vikings and his impact became immediate. We all know his story, but it was the Thanksgiving game, his rookie year, against Dallas, where Moss had the last laugh. He had only 3 catches, but all went for TDs. He finished with 163 yards receiving.
Since then, he's had some of his best games against Dallas. His career stats vs the Cowboys are
29 Catches, 675 Yards, 10 TDs.
That's anger. That's I TOLD YOU SO. That's a slap in Greg Ellis's face.
This is what he deals with though. He's always had adversity. He's always been doubted and he always comes back to prove those people wrong. 19 teams passed on him. Minnesota quit on him. Then he spent two crap years in Oakland where his game dropped significantly. Then he went to New England, but everyone doubted he would ever get back to his glory days. That feeds him though. Moss loves the doubters because he loves to prove them wrong. He still holds onto that draft day. It still fuels him. He knew with the 8th pick that he was going to be a Cowboy and when it didn't happen, the match was lit.
Watch Out Dallas.
