Well Stars fans, our new GM Jim Nill is not messing around. The Stars have just traded Loui Eriksson (sad) in a deal to land Tyler Seguin from the Boston Bruins. We lose one of our corner pieces in Eriksson but we land our biggest need (a #1 center) and potential franchise player (Tyler Seguin). 21 years old and the former 2nd overall pick.

Stars are on the rise!

Huge trade in the works. Boston and Dallas close on a deal sending Tyler Seguin to Stars for Loui Eriksson. Other parts involved as well.

Seguin, Peverly and Button to Stars. For Eriksson, J.Morrow R.Smith and Matt Fraser.

This team has massive potential now with Nichushkin/Benn/Seguin.

Center was a massive need area. As long as the long term potential is similar, I'm happy with this move.

I really enjoyed watching the Cup playoffs this year but know virtually nothing about the NHL players.

I'm going to start paying more attention. The word "blockbuster" has a nice ring to it.

It's one of the crazier deals the NHL has seen in a very long time. You will almost never see a 21 year old center who has already won a Stanley Cup (granted he's on a great team) that was drafted 2nd overall be traded. He had a 67 point season when he was 20 years old.

Long term potential is greater. Eriksson's (still love him, class act) best season was 73 points. Seguin already has a 67 point season with about a 7 year age gap. Max potential for Seguin is about a 90pt season possibly.

Only thing I'm concerned about is his character, but he is only 21 years old. Loui is and always will be a class act.

Seguin needs some work but he has shown he can still produce. It's a good deal for both teams. We had to pull the trigger on a potential franchise center because they are extremely hard to find and Boston already has theirs. Seguin has been playing out of position on the wing as well, and this move will put him in his natural position so we can expect more production. Also, Jamie Benn has been playing out of position for the Stars at center (natural position being wing). Seguin will allow Benn to move back to wing where we can expect more production. Dallas also landed their second line center in Peverly through the deal as well.

Love this trade! Now I have to decide whether to get a Seguin jersey or a Jamie Benn jersey. With the new uniform of course.

I would go with Benn, but both are good choices.

I know I'm buying me an authentic green Benn jersey when they are available. Right now it's about a 14 week wait! Nichushkin is another good choice. I think he will be the best of the bunch eventually.

You know what I was thinking bro? A customized Mike Modano #9 Captain jersey with the new stars logo. I get them from a chinese knock-off (yes condemn me) but they are as realistic as they get for hockey. My only other Stars jersey is a Mike Rebeiro jersey! LOL. Not sure why I got his but this was years ago. I probably will just throw it out.

I have plenty of knock off soccer jerseys I bought in Mexico that look great. I think Modano is an excellent choice.

Love thiis trade as a Bruins fan. LE will be a GREAT fit in the Bruins system at a GREAT price. TS hasd a poor season this year. Finished the year on the third line. This on the team that had problems finishing all year. There were comments coming out of the room questioning his commitment. He began to come across as a bit of prima donna who had trouble fitting into the B's defense first system. To his credit he responded to the criticisms with a very physical, for him, and motivated effort in the finals. In the end I don't think he was trusted enough to invest the time and money in. I hope it clicks for him in Dallas.

Loui is coming off of a bad season as well just so you know. Worse than Seguin.

It is a good trade for both teams.

In another trade the Stars have acquired Sean Horcuff from Edmonton for Philip Larsen and a 2016 7th round pick.

Another center for us, and will probably be on the 4th line. He was the captain of Edmonton so he could be brought in for some leadership.

Sequin is a party boy who showed up late for a playoff game in Toronto. Doesnt like contact and has 3 goals in 40 playoff games.

What about Loui's playoff stats?

Please, quit hating on Seguin, he's 6 points shy of Loui's best season all time with 7 years on him.

B's hired guard to keep Seguin in hotel

07:32 AM ET 07.05 | For months, there were whispers about polarizing Tyler Seguin, who on Thursday was shipped to Dallas. Those sources clearly were onto something, because the Bruins yesterday made the decision to part ways with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 draft, who they feel is headed for trouble with his nightlife pursuits. ... Multiple sources said the 21-year-old Seguin crossed the line this season with reckless partying. It apparently got so bad that during the playoffs, the Bruins ordered Seguin to live in a hotel, where a guard was hired to make sure he stayed in his room. But [Peter Chiarelli] repeatedly defended Seguin, calling him "a good kid and a terrific player" and "a tremendous package of speed and skill."

Seguin is exactly what Dallas needs and this was a great trade.
