Blog has info on Lovie

Lovie thinks Rex Grossman is a QB. That right there says all I need to know.

When Brian Griese and Kyle Orton are the backups, I guess Rex Grossman looks pretty good.

So was Dilfer.

Dilfer did fine in the SB.who cares we have a good qb.the problem here is D and lovie knows it like the back of his hand.

So that makes it worse. He can't replace Grossman? Carter would replace Grossman and that isn't saying much.

So he lead his team with a bad QB to the Superbowl .....

That makes him sound even better to me.

Yeah for a season it sounds great. Grossman for the long haul? Not so good.

I want a HC who knows both sides of the ball.

Wouldnt we have to give the Bears comp since Lovie is still under contract? Bucs gave up like 2 ones for Gruden, if the Bears win the bowl I would think they would want something similar.

For Gruden, the Bucs gave up $8 Million plus their 1st and 2nd round picks in 2002 AND 2003. That trade was crazy.

I'd be happy to get Lovie or Rivera. Why give up one or more quality picks when we could just sit back and take whichever they don't chose? You can't go wrong with either guy.

My guess is that Chicago lets Lovie go and promotes Rivera. Ron was drafted by the Bears and played LB for them for nine seasons. He's a Chicago guy. He gets his dream job and Lovie gets to come home and take his dream job. Everyone's a winner.

I would love for a coach whos favorite team is the cowboys coach for the cowboys. I think he would have more passion for the team than some coach whos just here for a paycheck

As one source explained it to us, the Cowboys gig is Smith's dream job. It's hardly a stretch, given that Smith grew up in Big Sandy, Texas.
Let us not forget that dream jobs do not always work out, a la Jimmy Johnson in Miami. While that wasn't a total disaster, it had a rather sour ending.

Not one single coach out there at this point. My problems not so much losing Parcells. It's more of who is coming and what control they will have. This simply wasn't a good year for this. If (that if isn't a stretch) Jones starts to regain his coaching nuts we are screwed.

by "good" i can only assume you'd be a cowher fan. who else would be around 'next year' that would be a great fit?

it can't be fisher - tenn already told us to bugger off. they're working on a long term deal now and if fisher didn't want to be there, i'm sure he'd let them know not to waste their time.

next year there could be even more vacencies on teams and the price for cowher would go up accordingly. why would he come to dallas just because the fans would want him here when he can have his pick? dallas *is* a good spot and a dream job but maybe not for him.

who else is not available this year that would be there next year? since we're talking draft picks for lovie smith, being under contact can't be a huge stopping point anymore unless the coach would want to be here anyway.

just curious - i hear this a lot but other than cowher i don't know why next year is so much better.

This might sound weird but last night at the end of my nightly bedtime prayers, I prayed "Oh, and Lord...please ask Jerry Jones to hire Ron Rivera. Amen."

Man, I need a real life.

It's widely rumored that Chicago is desperate to keep Rivera, and that they don't want to pay Lovie the type of salary he's going to demand after another year of great coaching. I think Jerry could force Chicago's hand by asking to interview Rivera after the Super Bowl. If Chicago truly wants to keep Rivera, they aren't going to risk letting him come to Dallas for an interview. Consequently, they would offer him a promotion to HC, and let Lovie come to Dallas as HC, which is what Lovie, and his mother, always dreamed of him being. The Bears would get to keep Rivera, and pay him a low salary, and Lovie gets to coach the Boys. Everyone's happy. What do you think? Maybe I'm living in LaLa Land!

The last coach I want here is Cowher. Id'e rather have that nutty guy.
Lovie is going no where. Norv is a wuss who owens will abuse to no end.
Phillips is a wuss who Jerry will abuse to no end. Rivera would be ok.
The rest of the names out there were passed over by nobody's getting jobs, that tells me some thing.

Things change, we have no idea who would be up for grabs next season. I would rather have waited.
This years crop is sad.

Dan Marino. Biggest mistake he made.

whoosh - swing and a miss on my cowher guess. but if you have no one in particular you're wanting next year, how can you feel it would be better than this year? just hate this year enough to where it wouldn't matter? (i know that feeling too, but for different reasons)

I live here in S. Florida. Jimmy did very good in Miami. They tied his hands behind his back and he still got them to the playoffs every year. He wanted to get rid of Marino and they said no. Marino choked in big games thats the truth. Even some Miami fans will not argue that point. And tell me this what has Miami done since Jimmy left? They certainly went from a very good playoff team to a team that cannot even get to the playoffs.

Not to rant but if Jimmy was given his way and would have traded Marino, when he still had value, for a couple of draft picks. It might well have been a different situation. Remember last year or was it the year before that Marino was GM for like a week or two. He can do no wrong in Miami.

Hey guys, check out this article.

If his momma and God are telling him to do something....

http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/other/12/10/10lovie.html

Lovie Lee, as he is called back home, has long been a hero in Big Sandy, where he starred on three consecutive Class B state championship football teams from 1973 to 1975. The townsfolk are tickled to see the rest of the country catching up.

"I grew up a Cowboys fan; we all did — Lovie, too," said Smith's former neighbor Willie Strickland, 50, who wears a Cowboys T-shirt and a Bears cap on Sundays. "But I gotta go with Lovie in a faceoff. He's family, man. He's representin' Big Sandy!" ......

......It was in his sophomore year at the University of Tulsa that Lovie's mother called to tell him about a dream she had just awakened from. In it, her son was coaching the Dallas Cowboys.

"Now, if anybody's got a direct line to God, it's my mother, but that was highly unlikely," Smith said. "I didn't think much about it, but every time I'd get a new job, moving up the coaching ladder, my mother would remind me of her dream."

That's pretty awesome. Were he to become our HC, that would make a nice story to tell.
