Wasn't that the year they sucked, and traded their good players? The team that signed DeVante Parker, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Xavien Howard among others?
That's blowing it up?

They do? So, most teams are smart enough to blow it up? Sounds right, that's why we don't win in the playoffs.you realize that most teams rosters turnover like that after 6 years?
Likely not all things considered.
the average NFL roster turns over 25% every year. The average NFL players career is 3,3 years. Now what do you think that looks like after 6 for the average team?
Those opposed to "blowing it up" are just arguing semantics. "Blowing it up" is a grey term, and can be defined many different ways. A team can "blow it up" by trading away 1-3 players. We "blew it up" by trading Herschel away. Its more about turnover rather than blow-up. eg Eagles 2020 (4-11) team didnt stay around, traded away to build.
So, if, after the GB 'play-off' we'd traded: Osa, Tank, Martin, J-Lew (and as we did....not re-sign: Gilmore, Tyron, Pollard, Hankins),.....would you of classified that as a "BLOW THIS THING UP" ?
We are discussing blowing it up a year too late. The above, coupled with Dak playing out his last contract (maybe even re-signing this year, to a more realistic/sensible contract), would of pre-luded any NEED to be discussing blowing it up. But Jerry's ANNUAL RELEVANCY, and even to a point, the fanbase who continually have the expectation to be building forward, rather than accepting that you have to trade away and re-tool to build the foundation.
Yep, exactly. For me 'blowing it up' would of been trading: Dlaw, Zack, J-Lew and Osa last year and making Dak play for his contract during a re-tooling season. We'd be in a much healthier state than we are. As you say it's not necessarily 'blowing it up', it could be/of been, (to mix a metaphor), a year to of feathered the brakes and re-tool.Those opposed to "blowing it up" are just arguing semantics. And you can define it any way you want and not be wrong.
Trading your starting QB away can be considered "blowing it up".Yep, exactly. He's going nowhere with his NTC. Last year he'd of been with us (with admittedly an inferior roster to the 12-5 years), showing us why how he's worth top dollar ...BY HIS OWN SKILLSET. If he didnt fancy the challenge' last year, fine. find yourself a trade.Trading your starting QB away can be considered "blowing it up".
Jerry loves you. We’re stuck with an QB who can’t run any offense. They just need to fix the offense.
More like your distinction is not a distinction. They do? So, most teams are smart enough to blow it up? Sounds right, that's why we don't win in the playoffs.
Yes, "blowing it up" is definitely a meaningless term. Prolly gleaned from some spewing BSPN blowhard.More like your distinction is not a distinction.
By your definition all teams including the Cowboys who have similar turnover blow it up. It is meaningless.
What year was it they strategically tanked in your mind?
And I dam sure hope I'm wrong and this team ends up in the show this year. The Cowboys do not know the value of when to walk away from a bad situation.
Hope springs eternal my friend. At this point I'm sure we will all even take an accidental appearance in the show because the rest of the NFC has been afflicted with the injury bug.And I dam sure hope I'm wrong and this team ends up in the show this year.
Yep.... but that goes for some of the fanbase too. The right time to of: blow up/retool/restock/re-evaluate/ lay down a foundation to start again was last year....but Jerry would never take that year of irelevancy (I'm not sure whether most of the fanbase would of accepted trading: J-Lew, Osa, Martin and Dlaw before last season)? The Cowboys do not know the value of when to walk away from a bad situation.
And in the end the year of irrelevancy was forced on him anyway.but Jerry would never take that year of irelevancy
Blowing the team up isn’t going to put an end to the circus. We're talking about extending parsons... we are stuck with the highest paid QB that will never ever win. Ever! In a Qb league.
We have more holes that need repairing than NY pot holes.
Blow this whole thing up and accumulate draft picks, this circus needs to come to an end.
Yep, and is likely to mean another year to re-evaluate.... a clear out last year, inc Mike would of put us in a much better place (or even gone All-In last year, re-signed Tyron, Pollard and FA, in an attempt at all or nothing ).....but, no, we had to go halfway house (as ever). And in the end the year of irrelevancy was forced on him anyway.
Not winning preceded Dak. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he and Romo, both very good QBs, could never get it done in the playoffs. It’s a front office head of the snake situationDallas can't win with dak and Jerry that's been known for a while. Only hope is they hit on a qb and try again in 5-6 years
Oh the lack of winning big in Dallas is very much a culture/leadership at the org level issue. Dak is more of the latest face of how poor this team is at evaluating talent and cutting their losses early. You look around our own division - the Giants moved on from Daniel Jones - not as early as they could have but still a lot earlier than Dallas. Not winning preceded Dak. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he and Romo, both very good QBs, could never get it done in the playoffs. It’s a front office head of the snake situation
its your definition of blowing it. so fans come up with their own categories. When you cut/trade your no. 2 overall pick QB and take the biggest salary cap hit in history at the time, most, or at the very least some, would consider this a version of blowing it up.
